Dropped today.

Not underserved either - he's looked a shadow of his former self since we started back.

Agreed.  Hopefully he can make an impact from the bench later in the game.

Better still let's hope we don't need him to.

Well we did, and he didn't.

I thought there were a few, tiny glimpses of him getting back at it during his cameo today. Nothing major, just a bit of 'something'

That's what coming back from a long lay off can do. He was hardly going to hit the ground running.

Was he that much worse off than anyone else? He was back in training when everything stopped so I'm not sure why he looks so far off the pace and Luis, for example, seems to have benefited from the break.

Well yes, because hadn't kicked a ball since December and Luiz hasn't been out injured. It's not just about form, it's match fitness and sharpness. If you can't see that, then fair enough.

He’ll be fine, he’s a good player, but it’ll be too late for us this season.

How much match fitness did Luiz have from not playing since the start of March?

Again, he wasn't out injured previously was he.

It doesn't matter. Neither of them had played for three months. It's like a brand new season. Match fitness has nothing to do with it.

Match fitness has nothing to do with coming back from a long injury lay off? Hmm, I think I'll leave it there. You obviously have no idea what you are talking about. Wow.

Educate me then. How much match fitness did any other player have in the squad having not played a competitive fixture for 3 months?

Crikey, heard it all now. Bloody hell, of cause SJM is not going to be on pace after a lengthy layoff. It can take weeks of playing to get back to a decent match fitness which is very different to just being fit. If you’ve ever played the game you’d certainly know.

I'll try and explain it one more time. None of the other players were injured prior to the lockdown. He hadn't kicked a ball since before christmas. It sounds like you are either arguing for the sake of it or just a bit dim. Either way, I'm bored of it

That's just completely untrue. McGinn was in full training before the season suspension, just like Luiz.

Neither of them had any match fitness going in to the Sheffield United game. Luiz has coped with it much better than McGinn. It's just not an excuse. Nor is an injury he recovered from four months ago.

Yep, bizarre isn't it?
