When Liverpool played there, those same hardmen gave it the big one, mocked the 96 and proceeded to get battered by some irate Scousers.
Link below is from the scum game there last year. Gives a bit of an idea what its like. Once you leave London Bridge on the train, you probably won't even come close to a Millwall fan there and back. Straight off the platform, through the gates, along the covered walkway, straight to the turnstiles. At no time are you out in the streets around the ground. Certainty to be kept in after for a while though.
As good a rebuttal of 'intelligent design' as I have ever seen.

It was one of the most gutted I've been at Villa Park, but do they really still sing about an equaliser from Stern John?
Could have been worse, no reason why we can't turn them over.
There really is no need to shit it about this one. I will be going by train, slurping in Central London and don't expect grief.
I can't say it's a ground i've ever really fancied going to but judging by what people are saying, it should be ok. Quite looking forward to it now actually.
New ground for me. Saw us play at the old ground 7 times.
Expecting tickets to be issued in a similar manner as for Bradford.
The New Den is a doddle, nothing like the days of avoiding speaking to cockney Sergio Tacchini wearing hoodlums who asked the time at every street corner waiting to catch a bit of a Brummie accent & even that was made up nonsense.
Seriously, you'll have more trouble finding a skinny cappuccino than finding bother between the station & the ground in SE16.
Although I might nip South of the river early doors to get one of these sausage sarnies at Damon's gaff.
Millwall away - not too bad!
Not too bad? Could be a battlefield. Not looking forward to this at all.
I wouldn't worry.
I've been to the New Den and its just full of chavs who think they're hard becuase they're supporting Milwall.
You get "bubbled" by the police if you are on the coach or train and with 4,000 Villa down there it will be alright.
This.
I covered Millwall for several years for the local paper.
The standard advice is not to drink in any of the local pubs, but these days there aren't any.
Get the northern line from Euston and change at London Bridge for South Bermondsey, it's one stop.
Afterwards you will get a Met escort back to the station.
How do the old bill stop you mixing with the home fans at South Bermondsey?
nah there will be some bother owwight, the most likely ambush London Bridge Station, this is a big opportunity for the old firm
I've been to the New Den a few times with Watford. Watford were only given the top tier and the away fans remain quite far away from Millwall fans. Not an ounce of trouble and plenty of police presence.
There are plenty of places to drink centrally in London before training it from London Bridge to the station. Once at South Bermondsey, there is a rat run from the station that takes you (the long way) straight to the away end in about 5 mins.
