That is very sad news.

I think I'm correct in saying he was the last surviving player of either team from the 1957 Cup final as well as the 1958 Northern Ireland World Cup squad.

RIP

Not only this but by my reckoning, until his death the oldest living FA Cup Final goalscorer.

Single handedly outscored England at the 1958 World Cup as well.

Some rareified company here:

Sad news.  better tell my dad , he loved PM, probably his fave  and saw him at 57 .

When I told Dad, it elicited an 'Ah, that's sad' despite him having a tough weekend himself. He then added 'he must have been a good age' (despite being just 3 years younger). :)

Very sad news, my first Villa hero and my all time favourite Villa player, had the pleasure of meeting him at the 2000 Cup Final, a true gentleman as well as a great player.

RIP Peter

I longed to see us winning the cup again and seeing Peter McParland being part of the celebrations. It will never happen now.
A sad loss.

Very sad. My dad and uncle were always talking about him and the 1957 final which helped seal my love for the club RIP
