At the moment I'd be happy to gazump a Barnstoneworth United signing if he'd ever played centre-half.

I'm guessing we can't spend too much till July as we need that big year of PSR loss to drop off the rolling three year cycle? Doubt we'll be dropping £60m on someone today.

🚨🧨 Aston Villa are monitoring Real Madrid Castilla’s Manuel Ángel — there are no offers planned in the short term, but they are very attentive.
@relevo

Another Spanish second tier player?!! Hardly screams immediate first team player.

I'd imagine so. I'm just amazed it's got to the last day and we've let ourselves get in this situation.

The last time the defence was so neglected was under Bruce and he got pelters for it.

Probably explains why we’re also seeing the club get pelters for the position we’re in now too.

We have two Right backs, three Centre Backs, and two left backs. We also have an Academy Graduate who can play there, and a defensive midfielder who can play there out of necessity.

It just so happens that we have one RB and two CBs injured at the moment so it looks worse than it is. We need one CB, that's all, and we're clearly trying to get one, that's better than the one we let leave (and that most people wanted us to get rid of).

Our defence isn't neglected, we have two players per position, we just have injuries that aren't long term. It feels worse than it is.

Carlos shouldn't have been allowed to go until the replacement was sorted though surely.

Agree with this, it would be different if Tyrone and/or Pau were out with long-time injuries.

Was Bade not the replacement, and then he let us down last minute?

I'm sure we'll get someone in. He wanted to go, we had a good offer, so let him. It's a couple of weeks.

Lloyd Kelly, doesn't seem to be playing much at Newcastle but good for Bournemouth.

If we are after a 'tide us over' defender

Buy the replacement first if you are so bare bones like we are. He didn't let us down, we've let ourselves down.

I think most would be happy with a Lenglet type loan surely? Mings was out so we knew we needed to replace him and did a week later.

Seems Disasi is the one we still want but Chelsea want to sell him and we want a loan so see what the next few hours bring.

Still very possible if Spurs were interested and then stopped as they probably got feedback he'd rather come to us.

I don't think we are after that sort of player. We want players who will make a difference for our run in, not just for February.
