Apparently Palace have turned down £70 million from Spurs for Guehi. We can probably safely rule ourselves out of that one, I think.

Good old Doug Ellis Daniel Levy throwing in a massive bid that he knows isn't going to be accepted on the last day of the window to placate the fans.

Honestly it’s that bad if you told me a rat was hanging on for dear life at the end of your foot I’d have believed it more.

Wait…you don’t believe the rat story?

Asensio deal seems to have gone a bit quiet

I'm not surprised to be honest, I didn't realise you could only have two players on loan, we now have Rashford as one. I guess that means we are waiting to see if we need to use the other loan on a CH before committing to Asencio?

We can have up to four players on loan. Two from the Premier League.

Asensio is fine to come in.

Lloyd Kelly, doesn't seem to be playing much at Newcastle but good for Bournemouth.

If we are after a 'tide us over' defender

I don't think we are after that sort of player. We want players who will make a difference for our run in, not just for February.

You have to still be in the race by March. Anyone could see in all 3 recent games, there is a gaping hole in the team. We're probably 3 points down so far, with an FA cup tie this weekend which is very winnable. Saying Mings might make that game is great, but we're only a knock from being back to 1 centre back until mid march at the earliest. Picky is fine when you have cover. When you don't a plaster is needed.

Maximum of four at any time, and no more than six across the season.

And Bogarde and Kamara are plasters. And better than some of these suggested desperation buys.

We're up against PSR so spunking cash on a shit CB to cover a couple of weeks would be ridiculous.

- Premier League clubs may not register more than two players on loan at any one time.
- The maximum number of loans registrable in the same season is four, and, under no circumstances, shall more than one be from the same club at any one time.

I'm having a nightmare, first Lloyd Kelly and now this.

I'm going to need a bottle of scotch and a revolver. Or to do some work.

But it's not to cover a couple of weeks, it's to cover the next four months. Unless a knackered Ezri Konsa is expected to play every minute of every game for the next four months, having played nearly every game last season and spent the summer playing for England.

If PSR money is that tight, then adding another left-sided attacking midfielder (Asensio) definitely shouldn't be the priority.

I'm still pretty sure we'll see a centre-back today though.

No you're correct. If we had 2 players on loan now and wanted to bring in 2 more we would have to let go the original 2 players on loan to allow the next 2 join.
