The last time the defence was so neglected was under Bruce and he got pelters for it.

Probably explains why we’re also seeing the club get pelters for the position we’re in now too.

What’s James Chester up to these days?

Honestly it’s that bad if you told me a rat was hanging on for dear life at the end of your foot I’d have believed it more.

🚨🧨 Aston Villa are monitoring Real Madrid Castilla’s Manuel Ángel — there are no offers planned in the short term, but they are very attentive.

As someone pointed out, Disasi can't play in several of our upcoming games, and if we can only add 3 to our CL squad, he might not even feature there, so it's understandable that we're not breaking the bank for him specifically. We should however be looking to get someone in that can do a job for the next few weeks, at the very least.

I understand not wanting to spend £60M on Marc Guehi or £40M on Axel Disasi, but there must be dozens of centre halves around £20M/£30M who'd jump at the chance to join a Champions League team, with Unai Emery as a coach.

I'm sure we are trying, but if we can't make the most of the position we are in now, we never will.

The biggest fuck up was not getting Huisen from Juve as part of the Dougie deal. He's brilliant and will make Bournemouth a fortune.

As it is, we must have an option somewhere for a centre half!

Players like Marc Guehi don’t come along very often. I know it’s a hefty fee but he is superb. Effectively swap Duran for him and I’d be delighted.

Shame it won’t happen

If they loan out Chilwell to Palace which is looking likely they cannot loan Disasi to us as they’ll be up to five.  Apparently.

Teams can loan out a maximum of 6 players. This would mean only one of Felix or Disasi could be loaned. Felix is currently in Milan.

We could do with a Conor Coady style defender til end of season.

He has just signed for Sheff Utd on loan. Would it be too cheeky to put in a late bid?

We're in the Champions League and competing for European positions and you want to gazzump a Sheff Utd signing?

The last time the defence was so neglected was under Bruce and he got pelters for it.

Probably explains why we’re also seeing the club get pelters for the position we’re in now too.

We have two Right backs, three Centre Backs, and two left backs. We also have an Academy Graduate who can play there, and a defensive midfielder who can play there out of necessity.

It just so happens that we have one RB and two CBs injured at the moment so it looks worse than it is. We need one CB, that's all, and we're clearly trying to get one, that's better than the one we let leave (and that most people wanted us to get rid of).

Our defence isn't neglected, we have two players per position, we just have injuries that aren't long term. It feels worse than it is.
