We're in. Girona first for me please!

Girona sounds lovely, hope you get your wish.

Also pleased for our Canadian fans. Haven't heard from them since it was confirmed, so can only assume they're still celebrating. The streets of Vancouver would have been buzzing last night.

That's brilliant. Who's the presenter? Looks like Purslow in a dress!
The presenter is Katharine Merry, Olympic medalist and the fastest woman in the world over 400m in 2001, who is a Villa fan, is clearly a warm and confident MC, looks lovely in her dress and does not remotely resemble Mr Purslow!
Yes, how crude olaf. Kath was a great host (as was Jase from the BBC, we must pay well - though I expect him to give us more discussion time on "Final Score" on Saturday afternoons going forward).
Thank you, Louise.
Apologies both and the forum for the crass remark I was just being silly due to  my ignorance.

BCVillain must have had quite a night.

Girona is a lovely place, and only 50 minutes drive for me. If we get Barcelona that'll be fine too, plus there is more chance of getting a ticket.

All my kids seeing Villa in Champions League/European cup for the first time
Unai manager of the season
Best owners in the league
Blues relegated
Mansfield promoted (personal thing)
My lads team won the league cup last Friday
Seeing Stevie Nicks in the summer at Hyde Park

What a time to be alive
Brilliant. Enjoy it mate. Same for me too regarding my lads seeing the Villa in Europe.

What are the odds on us to win it or is it too early?

After the success of Champions League Contention thread I think I'll be doing a title contention thread next season but it would only be done if deemed appropriate when in 1st place like the champions league contender thread made in November when all the signs were there.

They will do that straight after this year’s final  but I think we will be in bar group.

So we made it. Top 4 for the first time since 1995-96 and undoubtedly our best season since then and arguably a more significant one than 95-96 in some ways because it resulted in champions league qualification.

We came close in 03-04 and the MON years. I think it would have been easier to make it to the champions league in 03-04 or the MON years so this achievement really is something else. Back then there was probably a big 3 or big 4 whereas now there was a genuine big 6 to break through.

I am so proud of the team, coaches and manager. It is a season that will long live in the history of Aston Villa and made all the sweater for the heart ache we had to endure for much of the post MON years.

So it’s down to the El Celler de Can Roca for dinner every Friday night for you?

No probs, Olaftab, I think we’re all a bit giddy from attaining the rarefied atmosphere of the Champions League!

Oh every week ;-)

But if 3* Michelin is a bit too fancy they have a normal restaurant in Girona called 'Normal' https://restaurantnormal.com/en/

So obviously Unai and the current squad are the deserved stars right now but I know I'm not the only one who thought it apt to pay tribute to Dean Smith for starting the journey we've been on. Here are some others:

James Chester
Conor Hourihane
Ahmed Elmohamady
Glenn Whelan (never forget the pen)
Tammy Abraham
Anwar El Ghazi
Trezeguet (the back post Messi)
Bert Traore
Matt Targett

I might have missed others. I know one Judas who I missed deliberately. What a ride it's been.

Add Steve Bruce .
