We will be entering this for the third time. There have been a couple of changes since we last played in the competiton back in 1983.
Firstly they rebranded it with an inappropriate name, many of the teams (ourselves included) are not
champions in their domestic league.
In fairness, from next season it is being played more in a
league format.
There will be 36 teams in a single league table instead of traditional group stages. Each team will play eight matches against eight different opponents, with four home ties and four away. The top eight sides will qualify automatically for the knockout phase, while the teams that finish ninth to 24th will play in a two-legged play-off to decide who reaches the knockouts.
