I was a bit puzzled about what the kid we could get next year for free would add financially to the deal but reading some of your posts & thinking about it, it fixes a couple of problems by getting us the kid who West Ham fans are pissed at potentially losing & at the same time pushes Durans love affair with Chelsea onto West Ham & the bright lights of London.

Especially if we have decent sell on clauses...

£30m plus this kid isn't worst deal in the world.  Especially if we loan him to the Championship this season, and if he turns out not to be right for our first team we can move him on for Iroebugnam type money in a couple of years, turning the transfer into a £40m one?

I'm always in favour of bringing in talented youngsters with one eye on the future, but he could equally be worth nothing in a couple of years, obviously.

The natives aren't happy

I absolutely don't forgive you for linking that clip. I've not known anyone whinge about the nature of rumours like that before. Don't make the fucking video then. Are West Ham fans that thick that they need someone explaining what a rumour is? "Don't shoot the messenger", "I know you won't be happy with me about this one and I'll understand if you're upset". Get a grip man. At least I know to avoid his face in the future.

Romano just now

Understand Aston Villa rejected West Ham new bid for Jhon Durán.

£32m, Lewis Ordford and sell-on clause still not enough to meet £40m valuation wanted by Villa.

↪️⚒️ Negotiations continue as Durán wants West Ham, up to the clubs.

My math may be off but there's no way the untried 18 y/o is worth £8m so why would we sell?

Kellyman is a similar age, barely has more experience and went for more than twice that.

But how long is/was left on their respective contracts?

Love the fact that we're no longer pushovers and can charge what we want for squad players.

Club didn't announce how long Kellyman's contract was for.

Re the Orford deal, I wonder is it Villa that's calling the shots on this by telling West Ham who they want instead of West Ham offering who they don't want, with our shrewd operators I wouldn't be at all surprised.  30 mil plus a promising youngster seems like decent business to me given Duran's obvious wish to get away.

We've been after him long before West Ham showed any interest in Duran. It's absolutely a player we want rather than one they're throwing at us, Dave.

I think Duran will do well at West Ham because he’ll get the minutes
West Ham won’t be spending 30/40m on the player for him not to start every week, he’s a million times better than that Donkey Antonio and is very young, which is why he’s fetching so much money
Although I think he might have fitted into a Moyes team better than the new guy

He scored 5 for us last year including some very important goals, although it says 23 appearances a lot of them were just a few minutes at the end of games. His goals per minutes ratio must be as good as any striker in the in the prem.
How many would he have scored if he had got the same amount of minutes as Watkins? Who knows

It’s more his attitude and I think his relationship with Emery the reason he’s been moved on that and being a bit of a twat
If he keeps himself fit and out of nightclubs I think he’ll be prolific over the next few years for West Ham, and by prolific, i mean 15+ goals a season

There’s no one doubting his talent though - it is purely a character issue and it’ll ultimately knacker him (unless he grows up).

He’s more like an old fashioned striker, maybe in the mould of Shearer which we do not see too many like that these days. One good season at West Ham and then they will have the rumours circulating by his agent next spring.

It’s a shame he’s off but he’s obviously very restless, which shows in his game as well as his personality.

Looks like Sergi Roberto will leave Barca and is available on a free. Apparently we're interested.
