With Duran, for every goal there's 10 shots from ludicrous positions. A great highlights player if there ever was one. Emery has had 18 months & probably can't wait to get rid of him. More trouble than he's worth.

Where are the links to West Ham? I'd also hope we have add-ons/sell-on clauses if it's £35m base.

There are loads of them on shitty West Ham blog type sites, along with Teamtalk, Birmingham World, Birmingham, Live, etc.

The reports say we want 10% sell on.

Adding the rumours together, is this the thinking:

Duran + Archer = Joao Felix

He’s not a pure striker but could fill in and offers a genuine alternative to Diaby.  Fees wise it might balance off, but I’d guess an increase in wages.

Same thought went through my mind

Yep, I remember watching him and Diaby during several games last season and thinking they had the exact opposite problem. Duran was shooting on sight, whereas Diaby was passing or taking too many touches when he should have been shooting. I'm guessing their confidence levels were at completely different places.

Although, to be fair, towards the end of the season it did look like Duran had gotten slightly better at passing.

In the PL Duran had 20 attempts and scored 5. Watkins was a goal every 5 attempts.

Yep. Duran has flaws, but there's no way finishing is one of them with that goal-per-minute ratio (and various screamers).

Just as an FFP scam, would we not be better just to meet the clause, buy him back, then immediately sell him on to Ipswich? The player wouldn't be inconvenienced in any way.

That’s not how it works sadly. If we bought him and sold him immediately we’d recognise his entire cost in year 1 (same as the revenue for selling him) so it would only be worth it if Ipswich offered us more than we had to pay Hull, which obviously isn’t going to happen.

I wonder if Kante would fancy another season in the Prem. Not that we could match the wages he's on.

You can't amortise over 5 years (or however long) if you're disposing of the asset in the same year!

This feels like the time I played "Go Johnny Go Go Go Go".
