Take the money we'll be getting from his sell-on clauses and put with the rest of the pot we have for players that will be playing regularly.

I'm glad we're letting him make the career career choices that he wants.

Yeah, take him back, loan him out for a fee covering the first years transfer cost then see where we are at.

He’ll only come back if he plays, so he certainly isn’t coming back to be loaned. We only have a matching clause, He’ll go to Everton. Unless we decide he’s replacing someone in our first team?

Just as an FFP scam, would we not be better just to meet the clause, buy him back, then immediately sell him on to Ipswich? The player wouldn't be inconvenienced in any way.

Romain

🚨⚒️ West Ham have already submitted more than one bid for Jhon Durán to Aston Villa.

Understand last proposal currently worth around £35m plus 10% sell-on clause.

Negotiations underway, personal terms already agreed with Durán. 🇨🇴

Looks like we definitely want shot of him

Good.

The arrogant little twat.

I think it's quite beautiful that after all the eye fluttering at Chelsea, he might end up at West Ham for his 'London life' dream & those constant winks at Chelsea will become West Hams problem.

And if he does end up turning down Champions League football with a club on the up for West Ham United, that would suggest that he clearly isn't in football for his career.

So fuck him off to footballing purgatory that is a contract with West Ham...

We have a matching clause, which is different to buy back clause. If he doesn't want to come back there's smeg all we can do afaik.

Yep.

It is what it is. And we aren't going to be offering him guaranteed first team football. Just squad rotation football.

It's just a shame that he has the confidence to go & look for first team football, but not enough to think that he could break into the Champions League level Villa team.

He only has to take a look at Bailey on the opposite side of where he plays to see that a rotational player can become a first teamer pretty quickly.

Same with Rogers too.

If they are good enough, then they will play.

Or maybe Duran wants to play more rather than be a backup to Iron Man Ollie. After 18 months at the club he's started 10 games.

^ yeah, it's the way he's gone about it that would bother me, rather than the fact he wants to play regularly as a starter

^ Agreed.

There is a valid point there, but Im not sure that is the case as he has been chasing Chelsea for over a year & he certainly isn't guaranteed football there.

Could he play his way into a first team slot?

Possibly.

Im not sure he has shown enough as anything other than an impact striker late in games though.

In my humble opinion, of course.

If he went to West Ham then I reckon he'd be starting loads and have the chance to prove himself, their other current strikers are Antonio and Ings, both looking old as feck most games. The only other option is Bowen but he's better as a wide attacker.

Yeah, West Ham would seem ideal for him. Antonio is decent but not getting any younger, you'd imagine he should be playing on a fairly regular basis there. He's probably not yet good enough to be a regular starter at Villa or Chelsea but too good to be scrambling around at some Southampton-type nonsense. West Ham seems about right, no reason they can't qualify for Europe again.

I'd have played him ahead of Diaby in a fair number of games last season. He could have been real competition for him.
