There’s that stat that we ran less than any team last season, pressed less and were basically bone idle most of the time.

Maybe we will play three 8s and they kinda rotate, so one sits (rests) whilst the others press. Tactically it might make us more flexible and give us a Plan B.

?

That’s absolute nonsense

The stat is right though, not the bit about being bone idle.

We were smarter with our energy than anyone else, that's why we stayed the course.

Bone idle, lulz. Ginny sweated 5 stone in total last season.

I do remember saying to someone that we didnt seem to run a lot but that was just the way we played. There was nothing lazy or idle about it.

We do less running because a big part of our game plan was to slow the game down and only add pace when it suited us. If we'd tried to play an all-action game we'd have been fucked long before it finally hit home in late March.

I'll be so gutted if we lose Dougie. He's been with us through good times and bad, probably played when not fully fit (last season), or at least when knackered.

Infuriating maybe 10% of the time with the cheap fouls and languid style that occasionally sees him caught-out on the ball but the rest of the time an absolute joy to watch. And he seemed happy here too.

Luiz is a fantastic player, if he wants it enough then he will go to the very top of club and international football. Having to sell him after reaching the CL is quite depressing. Strange time for any player to join Juve without a confirmed coach for next season in place.
Great club signing by Suso/Smith, took a while to get going, ability never in question but application at times was. Superb under Emery.

I reckon McKennie will play holding mid until Kamara is back.

Yeah, like Spurs.

Yeah, I saw the stat. It was their reading of it that was nonsense

Barkley would too, like he did at Luton last season. It reminds me a bit like Petrov who had the technical ability to adjust from playing as an 8 to playing as a 6.

He's the type of high profile young player that I hoped we would be looking towards as we get higher up the league.

Certainly one for the future.

I would rather he just join though, & none of this Douglas Luiz bullshit.

One of the qualities the great managers have is selling players at the right time, when they have peaked. I wouldn't knock Unai if that's whats happening here, he may think we've seen the best of him?

Shame as he's been one of my favourites but players come and go.

What about great Directors of Football? If we are to believe the rumours, we valued Dougie at £85m but are willing to do a deal for a total value of £50m. Either it's bullshit or Monchi is having his trousers pulled down.

I definitely remember hearing pundits rave about him in some European fixture, he is a very attacking wing-back.

Or he's definitely off (either he wants out, or we are desperate for cash), we don't want to sell to Arsenal or any other English team and this is the best option currently.
