Obviously the players have to be at a reasonable market rate so that we don't get twatted with the points deduction stick. But otherwise yes, whether you do a straight sale or take somebody in part ex, it doesn't have any effect on the overall value for PSR purposes.

Yes, Juve and Barca were done weren't they for this. But player swaps do seem to make a bit more sense.

I think my figures are wrong. Assume they'd be 5 year deals, we'd have to pop £6m+£4m down as spend in 23/24. We'd then be able to bank £20m cash and £50m in asset value for the two players as the incoming value for Doug, so we'd get to cross out the -£10m and pop +£60m.

How often have we lost our best midfielder to champions league football? Barry, Delph, Milner, Grealish? And when we finally get it ourselves we still have to sell because of these ridiculous rules. What a joke.

I'll be so gutted if we lose Dougie. He's been with us through good times and bad, probably played when not fully fit (last season), or at least when knackered.

Infuriating maybe 10% of the time with the cheap fouls and languid style that occasionally sees him caught-out on the ball but the rest of the time an absolute joy to watch. And he seemed happy here too.

Really wish we had gone in for Olise!

We’ve already got Leon for that, we don’t need Olise. Eze on the other hand…..

Barca and Juve took the royal piss with the valuations though.

There's absolutely no way losing Luiz and gaining some donkey who couldn't cut it at Leeds and Ross Barkley makes our midfield stronger. If they can afford to bribe referees they can afford to pay proper transfer fees, the cheeky twats.

It's just the same Italian media churning various versions of the same story, with the only think we can surmise is that the Italian press really want Luiz, but don't think Juve have got the money to sign him.

Tanswell at the Athletic and Romano too

I'm not convinced Barkley and McKennie will be the only ones to arrive in midfield.

Hopefully. I'd be happier then. Still, my preference is just keep Luiz, sell Archer to Vitoria Guimaraes for £300 million and buy who the fuck we want. If the Premier League can't be arsed to sort their rules out, we may as well take the piss out of them.

He looks like a 20 year old replacement for Moreno to me

Which given he's 31 and how well Digne played, I think is pretty decent business. Rumour Moreno wants to go back to Betis.

One day when I was chillin' in Kentucky Fried Chicken
Just mindin' my business, eatin' food and finger lickin'
This dude walked in lookin' strange and kind of funny
Went up to the front with a menu and his money
He didn't walk straight, kind of side-to-side
He asked this old lady, "Yo, yo, um, is this Kentucky Fried?"
The lady said "Yeah", smiled and he smiled back
He gave a quarter and his order, small fry and Big Mac

[Chorus]
You be illin' (Yo, yo, what you tell that kid?), illin'
You be illin', illin'
You be illin', illin'
You be illin', illin'

I’ve got Run DMC in my head now.

I was about to post exactly the same thing.

I kind of hope we don't sign him because that will be happening ALL THE TIME.

Know very little about McKennie and even less about Iling. Have there been any reputable journalists reporting on it yet? Either way, if it happens, it's a risk, but one we would presumably not take if Unai wasn't happy with it.

Fabrizio Romano reported last night that talks were held yesterday between the clubs, with McKennie / Iling-Junior plus cash being the subject.
