I agree he's been disappointing, but that's just an exaggeration.

What parts been a exaggeration?

I’m going to give the guy, who is one of the biggest reasons we’re likely to be in the CL, a chance to prove he isn’t good enough to perform at that level.

I’ve seen absolutely nothing to suggest he isn’t.

This the Leon Bailey that has already played in the Champions League before? That one?

The "levels we are at" meaning being in the top four and hopefully Champions League.

But he's performing at a higher level than equivalent players for the teams above us?

Put it this way, if we suddenly made Bailey available for transfer he would be moving a team higher up the footballing food chain than us, not to one lower.

He's had a tough year but so do many when going from league to league. Even Diaby, who despite putting up some good numbers has quite famously looked lost for long spells.

I'm not suggesting we should spend the £30m or whatever. I just don't think Smith-Rowe is better, just because he once scored 10 goals in the Sky Hype League.

I think the difference with diaby is we can actually can see what he can do. I think diabys is a mix of playing too much, not enough rotation due to injuries and low confidence.

Zaniolo for me has added nothing at all to us. Been a massive disappointment. Even trezuguet and el ghazi contributed more in poorer sides in the PL for us than he has.

That goal against Sheffield United gave us the point that's reinforcing why Spurs have to beat Man City. I think everyone would have given in way before now if he hadn't scored it.

Im sorry but i cant agree on that if thats why you are basing it on. Its based on what we do over 37 games not one injury time goal. Thats like saying samatta was agood signing for scoring a goal for us. He has been a massive disappointment for me. Sanson was given less opportunities and scored as many goals as he has

38 games.

Also, all Drummond is doing is pointing out the you are clearly wrong when saying “he’s added nothing at all to us”.

All I've got to add to the Bailey discussion is that he's been fucking superb this season.  He's our most creative and productive player.  He frightens defences to death and when we're getting a bit bogged down he looks like the only player capable of pulling a rabbit out of the hat.

He's gone from looking a bit like a busted flush to one of our most important players.  Nice one Leon.

Well Drummond is doing Zaniolo a disservice as his goals added two point to our total when we would have had none. Both coming on as sub as well.

But it does seem weird that the discussion seems to be get Smith-Rowe in because a team chasing for Champions League and the title don't want him and he will help us chase for the title and Champs league...... and he might be better then a player we had on loan who has been a disappointment but is leaving. Surely the comparison should be with the players ESR might be fighting for to play like Rogers, Ramsey etc.

You said he'd contributed nothing. I just gave one example to show you're wrong.  :)

I like to think he was keeping those goals in his back pocket, in case of any further retort

thats a bit of a weak argument in this scenario dave because ESR has only played in PL and at arsenal. Zaniolo has come to PL one of the toughest and flopped

But isn't your argument weak. You want to ignore Serie A where Zaniolo (two years earlier then the ESR good season) had a good a season which he also spent 6 months missing with a cruciate tear, a period where Roma lost most of their matches, and on his return they won all but one game he played in. But ignoring that, you then state he came into the Prem and flopped, yet also has 2 goals in that time frame, where the not flop ESR, has scored none during the same season.

If we get him in, we get him in, but i honestly don't see him as massive improvement to who we will have in the same positions who is Rogers / Ramsey one side and Bailey / Diaby the other. But as this season has shown we definitely need squad depth.

Its a weak argument  (as i explained) that ESR hasnt played abroad so its hard to compare. ESR has had a long term injury where he was out for practically a season. Zaniolo's been a flop his stats prove that. Thats not saying ESR wouldnt it all depends on how much his injury has taken out of him.

I agree with your last part though we  definitely need more players for the example you gavw with diabs and bailey

Smith Rowe has missed 7 games through injury. Zaniolo has missed more for us, 9 and also missed games for Galatasary. He missed a few last season as well and of course missed a season having done his cruciate.

That he's 'added nothing'. He's actually played quite-well-to-very-well a fair amount of the time. Not enough, I agree, but there's a big difference between 'not enough' and 'nothing'.

Saw this today on the Zaniolo front;

https://sportwitness.co.uk/temptation-strong-club-concrete-interest-aston-villa-player-plan-big-coup-making-contact/

"The Villans would have had to make Zaniolo’s loan stay permanent for €27m if he had played 80% of minutes this season."

"...Fiorentina have shown ‘concrete interest’ and are ‘in pole’ to secure the Aston Villa man’s services."

Absolutely, obviously, I fackin' knew it. The guy so clearly misses getting a cappuccino for €1.20 and hanging around aimlessly in the piazza with his buddies.
