Saw this today on the Zaniolo front;

https://sportwitness.co.uk/temptation-strong-club-concrete-interest-aston-villa-player-plan-big-coup-making-contact/

"The Villans would have had to make Zaniolo’s loan stay permanent for €27m if he had played 80% of minutes this season."

"...Fiorentina have shown ‘concrete interest’ and are ‘in pole’ to secure the Aston Villa man’s services."

Absolutely, obviously, I fackin' knew it. The guy so clearly misses getting a cappuccino for €1.20 and hanging around aimlessly in the piazza with his buddies.

He'll be decked out in Naff Naff jeans, smoking Camels and eyeing up your girlfriend in no time. He'll be like a pig in shit.

Wearing puffer gilets in April when it's 18°C, Sunday aubergine parmigiana with mamma, sending 2-minute-long vocal messages to his girl on WhatsApp. No way he doesn't hit double figures.

I hope they're not stuck 'in pole', because that can get tender I've heard.

Without checking, but didn't he start a fair few games at the start of the season which got us off to our very good start?

Its a weak argument  (as i explained) that ESR hasnt played abroad so its hard to compare. ESR has had a long term injury where he was out for practically a season. Zaniolo's been a flop his stats prove that. Thats not saying ESR wouldnt it all depends on how much his injury has taken out of him.

I agree with your last part though we  definitely need more players for the example you gavw with diabs and bailey

But then this is Zaniolo's first season in the prem, where Smith-Rowe had two introductory seasons and then quite a full season in relation before his standout one. So whilst you can say we can't compare ESR to Zaniolo's Roma season,  (one which I should remind you had him miss 6 months but Covid season so still had games to play after recovery), because ESR has never played abroad, then surely this being a first season in the toughest league should also be taken into account?

Have just read on BBC sport Arsenal are looking at selling Smith-Rowe, linked a couple of seasons ago and I know he has had a bad year with injuries. But if the price was right?
You  think our medical team are looking for work?

Smith-Rowe is super fit, last I heard was weeks later he was still running around trying to catch up with Watkins.

The fact that he was the one chasing Watkins when the other defenders had all given up and let him run in behind them is more of a comment in favour of his character than one against it.

Character maybe but he's obviously not thought useful when Arsenal are attacking and desperate for a goal.

Palace would be my bet, as they’re likely to be losing a couple of Olise, Eze and Whorton

Isnt it harder as a youngster though to break through as opposed to having that experience in one of the better leagues in europe? Although i think the English league is tougher the italian league its still a goodish league.

I personally would have ESR over zaniolo on a permanent contract any day

They only signed Wharton in January.

I don't see ESR as a significant enough improvement on Zaniolo tbh and would be absolutely amazed if he ended up with us

If we get the CL spot we have to aim very high, go up a level, first player I would go for is Jarrod Bowen, like Rice he's about to burst onto the scene, won't do that at WHU, we could possibly offer him a CL place, he won't get that at Hammers, cost a packet but so what,if we have CL football we must meet that challenge, he would be my first

Interesting stats by carragher, says we are 2nd worst team at aerial duels so he thinks we need a big cb thats good in the air.

I cant argue with him tbh. Mings we know is our guy but lets say he has a breakdown or delay coming back?

Think we need one tbh.
