i've had a look , it's basically a curry house masquerading as a pub. Not like there aren't enough curry houses in Brum already. They're ok, there's a couple by us , but if i wanted a curry i'd rather go to a proper restaurant

That's a dreadful description of a Desi pub. Go to Hen & Chicken as it may help you to expand your knowledge.

"Wait a minute, you mean a hen is a female chicken. So why is it is called the 'Hen and Chickens? What a rubbish name!" and then he'd storm off to the Taj Mahal restaurant.

We popped in last night post game but only to use the loos on the way to the bus stop in truth.  Week night games are just so hard to fit around work these days and I need to be home to me bed.

We've so much history in there I have to hope something will happen with it, but can't say I'm hopeful.

we went there pre xmas - Indian Cafe Racer at the back of The Wellington. It's quite nice because there's 2 distinct parts to the building - Pub at the front / Indian at the back.
So you can go for a pint without feeling like you're in a curry house and vice versa. My old favourite vinyl shop was next door now sadly closed down. (The Diskery)

The Diskery moved to just along Bristol street. The lads working there rate the food highly in Cafe Racer.

There is another Desi up there on Wellington Rd, cant remember what its called, it was the one on the left before you used to get to the Crown & Cushion.

The Calthorpe is a community centre now according to the signage outside when I drove past the other day. Both The Grove and The Garden Gate are probably classed as desi pubs…have eaten at both a few times and it’s always a good shout if you fancy an Indian takeaway. Will have to check out this Hen and Chicken place that has been mentioned a few times.
