Zaha is one of those players you hate unless he plays for you (Martinez getting that way too).

I think he’d be brilliant for us and is exactly the type of player we need but do not have.

I agree with you and LeeB, he’s exactly the sort of player we need.

Zaha is a mood swing player. Never been consistent to make the most of his undoubted talent. Shame as he could have been one of the greats.

I agree with the general consensus that it was a  bit of a drab game but we could quite easily have won that 3-0 with our chances. Ollie and SJM should have buried there efforts.

We will beat teams such as Southampton/Palace/Everton playing this way…

Aren’t you forgetting Man U, Brighton, Spurs and Leeds?

Exactly 22 points from 22 games since Emery took over by my reckoning.  We haven't played well all the time but have either won playing ordinary or created enough chances to get something from every game - Cit-eh aside

I’m sure it was just a typo, but 12 games.

4 defeats to 'The Mighty Reds YNWA', Cheat City, an incredibly unlucky late goal v The Arse and fucking Leicester, which was to me a freak result based on the performance.

He’s going really well with these players and I’m excited to see how he does with a few better ones.

Gerrard shouldn’t have been allowed to waste all those easy early fixtures. Time was definitely up after 4 games for me but would we have got Emery then?

Yes Percy - was typo.

Well who knows had we sacked him then (after 'ammers game) who we would have got. Maybe Lochawhathsiface at Dogheads. Couldn't been anyone worse (mind we did when incumbents were replaced by McNeill and McLeish)  than Gerrard.

Leicester - we had enough chances to win 2 games in the first half alone and still ended up losing that half

That Watkins miss was a great example of how he can be so infuriating. Would have been a fine goal, too. What a shame.

Anyone got a video of Ashley Young throwing the ball over Sahas head down by the corner flag when it went out of play? I burst out laughing when it happened but my Wife missed it and wants to see it.

Made me laugh too, sorry no video though.

Zaha is their Jack Grealish of sorts. He’s clearly their best player but they rely on him too much. On his day he can turn a game single handedly at times. But most of the time he’s let down by the lack of genuine quality around him. He’s incredibly dangerous as a player and would improve us immediately in terms of his quality but also his desire.

What is with the two keepers on the bench exactly?

I've seen it suggested that it's because Emery likes to use them for the pre-match drills. This strikes me as utter bollocks for the following reasons:

1) You surely don't need to be in the squad to take part in drills
2) Exactly what drills can take place that you need three keepers for?
3) He wasn't doing it when we had more players, and he won't be doing it next season after the summer transfer window.

And while I'm at it, surely there's a youth team player who could go on the bench to actually fill the last spot?

I'm wondering if it's a not so subtle message to Purslow and Lange ahead of the summer?

Nine times out ten, he puts that chance away, especially with the form he's in. That happens whoever you are.

I agree Emery should include a outfield youngster rather than our young keeper on the bench. If this is his way of sending a message I am not impressed. We need him to be a forceful manager prepared to tell Lange exactly what he wants, achieve consensus on a January plan and select a proper bench.

He’s only started to do it since Southampton away on January 21st. Up until that point he only ever had one keeper on the bench and youngsters like Kayden Young or Cam had made the bench instead along with more senior players. Most of them have gone mind you.

It’s been said he doesn’t like to give young players false hope. I don’t believe for a minute it’s a message to the owners who will back him. I don’t agree with it either but I believe this more than worry it’s a little dig.
