Anyone got a video of Ashley Young throwing the ball over Sahas head down by the corner flag when it went out of play? I burst out laughing when it happened but my Wife missed it and wants to see it.

Yes, one of the highlights of the second half that. You could have a very educated guess as to what Zaha would have said to Young. I know he’s not popular in these parts but he’d be great for us, he shields the ball so well and really stretches defences the way he plays right on the shoulder, probably not the wage/age profile we are looking for mind.

Can’t stand the bloke but he is a perfect fit for the striker/wringer position Emery has asked Bailey to play.

Seemed to me that they were clearly under instructions to be more safety first after the previous two home games, which is hardly surprising. We did enough to win the game, and while it wasn’t a match which will linger long in the memory there were still some decent moments. I thought Palace were poor, very niggly. I’ve been surprised to see people praising Olise, because for me he had an absolutely dreadful game.

First game of the season for me. I enjoyed it, clearly this passing it around at the back is essential to what Emery is trying to do. Had a seat in the middle Trinity Road and was surprised to see the large numbers of people streaming out of the lower Holte as early as the 35th minute. I guess that was due to a combination of the play, the cold and the catering issues.

His contract is up in the summer and Emery wanted him at Arsenal. I can see us going for him, and I'd be happy if we did

It happens every single game, regardless of the score or performance. Sometimes I run down for a piss when the whistle goes and see plenty of guys halfway through pints.

I get the feeling that he will be expecting to join a team that are already in the position that we are aspiring to.

He may be expecting it, but he won't get it unless he goes abroad.

He'll be after a massive last contract.

Yes, I’d imagine he will want a move to a club a little higher than a single place above his present one, and our board might be considering the Phil situation and be a little put off by having another 30 year old on a long, expensive contract. But as its not my money, I wouldn’t be against it if we could make it happen.

We will beat teams such as Southampton/Palace/Everton playing this way…

Aren’t you forgetting Man U, Brighton, Spurs and Leeds?

Exactly 22 points from 22 games since Emery took over by my reckoning.  We haven't played well all the time but have either won playing ordinary or created enough chances to get something from every game - Cit-eh aside

I’m sure it was just a typo, but 12 games.

4 defeats to 'The Mighty Reds YNWA', Cheat City, an incredibly unlucky late goal v The Arse and fucking Leicester, which was to me a freak result based on the performance.

He’s going really well with these players and I’m excited to see how he does with a few better ones.

Gerrard shouldn’t have been allowed to waste all those easy early fixtures. Time was definitely up after 4 games for me but would we have got Emery then?

Good teams play badly and still win.

Every three points we take pushes us that little bit further up the table and increases the likelihood of the manager being able to attract the players he really wants playing for him in the summer, rather than having to put something together from (almost entirely) Gerrard's squad.

It's about points and points only for the rest of the season as far as I am concerned.
That’s a great point, I’m not bothered really about Europe but a big push next season with the right, quality players is very much dependent on where we finish this season

I'm of the opinion that victories, however achieved, are the most important thing at this stage of our development.  Victories breed confidence and confidence in turn should alleviate the fear factor allowing for the expansive football we have seen glimpses of under Emery.  It's all about patience, better player recruitment notwithstanding.

Victories make it very difficult for any of our players to say we're not progressing quickly enough for them.
