I've read reports suggesting they were a little unlucky. Bollocks, they huffed and puffed but there was a gulf in class, only one team could play properly.
I had a scan of there forum, to a man they thought McNeil was superb and they were unlucky. I thought he was absolute shite and was relieved whenever he got the ball. Funny old game.

There were at least 3 saves they showed, all crackers!
I genuinely Corr remember the other two. Which probably says everything about my attention span.

It’s easier for the professional BBC film team, I imagine, as they have a very good view.
I’ll watch it back, but EmiM definitely made a few saves in the first half. 👍

Definitely a penalty now I’ve seen it again on McGinn, also definitely not a penalty on Ollie. It was a good save.

The way Pickford committed himself so early...Watkins should really have been able to go around him relatively comfortably.

Still trying to work out how Ollie header didn't go in. Thought it would be one of those nearly moments but he makes his own luck currently and we got the penalty about 90 seconds later.

Good job Mings is left footed aswell as ball would've been over the line if he'd waited for it to come onto his right.

I thought our penalty was sift as, like Micah, I thought the Everton player had touched the ball. The MOTD analysis showed he didn't, so correct decision.
I am disappointed that anything about you would even come close to being like Micah as he’s a super ******.

One special save, nothing else.

Might not always have been pretty but there was an element of control in our performance that has been missing in recent weeks. The slightly more conservative lineup suits us - for now - we look more balanced and while it puts massive emphasis on Watkins, he’s currently thriving on it.

Buendia took his goal well but his touch to McGinn that lead to winning the penalty was a thing of beauty too.

Our record against them since we came back up is excellent, Not quite Manchester clubs vs us excellent, but still very pleasing. 6-2-0. No idea what our best unbeaten run against any club is. We must have a good record against Blues Post the initial naff run in 03, and I can remember we had some kind of run going against Coventry which was mentioned quite  abit.

Last Blues win was the League Cup, I think. Last league win has got to be what, 2005?

Yep, they beat us home and away in 04/05. Since then it's no defeats in 14 league games.  You'd have to be mid to late twenties to be in with a chance of remembering a league win for them against us.

I'd happily give up ten league losses for that one in the League Cup. I'm not pinning it all on him, but I'll never forgive Houllier for that. He was never fully invested in us, and I don't think he appreciated the magnitude of that game.

We rightfully mock SHA, but if we won one of the cups and beat them on the way, we'd milk it too.

I don’t think it was a penalty after watching this a few times. I think there was clear contact with the ball .

I agree. No penalty, for me.

Awful game?

Not a game for the purist but having read this thread prior to watching a recording of the game I'm a bit surprised at some of the negativity. Playing away to a Dyche-led Everton is no easy task. We stood up to them quite well and we had a couple of glorious chances ourselves which seems to be ignored or downplayed in some of the media coverage.

Just as I thought the general tone after our losses to Leicester and Arsenal was a bit too generous, today's feels a bit harsh. I don't think many teams will go to Goodison and win 2-0.

If we had been playing any decent team we would have conceded another 4.

Watching MOTD and Emi Martinez saved us several times, & so did Mings off the line.
What a great match, all before the penalty.

Fab stuff, well done Ollie!

Mings’ pass to Kamara, to McGinn and to Buendia for the goal was a lovely move.

I’m pretty sure when they were talking about McGinn and JJ the picture behind them was of Aaron Ramsey not Jacob.
