Basically, he’s a really good coach, but I think this season has definitely shown Emery’s not so far ahead of sone other premier league coaches as I once thought. I think Palace, Brentford, Bournemouth and Brighton all have excellent managers

There might be coaches who out do him on a given day and he may not always set up as we think it should be - but Jesus Christ, three successive years in Europe and a squad worth a fortune etc. Doing all of this with several major injury crisis and getting us 7th in his first half season with a poor to average team?Come on guys, catch a grip. It’s not either or though is it? I think most people on here think he’s an elite coach and are more than happy with the progress but are more than capable of realising he does get it wrong on occasion. Unfortunately for us this year that’s been in our big matches. But that’s life, I’ve long since given up worrying about it for days on end, August will be here soon enough and we can start the merry go round all over again.

In other ‘big’ matches, we’ve won. Man City, Newcastle, Forest at home in the league. Bar a draw with Juventus, we won 5 out of 6 of our home CL games, including being the only team to put three past PSG. My biggest villa relate concern isn’t Emery or his tactics, team selection etc, its post Emery Villa, which looking at his managerial career, could be after next season.
It is his Cash at RB every game. His absolute faith in Torres to the exclusion of Mings. His pushing Rogers to the Right Wing to accommodate Assensio and leave us with no pace with neither providing any defensive support.Yes what he has done is miraculous, but when he gets it wrong he gets it badly wrong and more concerning is his apparent inability or unwillingness to correct it.

He's raised our expectations so much that we now criticise him for failing to give us what he's given us to dream of.

But I doubt it such is the willingness to select him and defend his selection.
For me the two main mistakes Emery made were the overuse of Rogers and the underuse of Malen.
