Isn't it time to formalise their role as our feeder club?

No, that would probably benefit them in someway. Better to just keep robbing them blind.

Rico Richards signed from the Bitters.

great, can see the steam coming out there ears already DVBs

Had a quick look on their forum when it was first mentioned here and they didn't seem that bothered tbh. Some would have given him another year's deal, but the feeling seemed to be that whilst he had showed promise the change of scenery might do him good and help him regain his form.

There would also be the problem if we both ended up in the same European competi...hahahahaha!

Talk we're trying to nab another Albion kid, Rico Richards - https://www.caughtoffside.com/2023/06/24/aston-villa-in-talks-to-seal-the-signing-of-19-year-old-midfielder/.

At 19, you would think he should be quite far down the development track. Maybe ready for his first loan move even. Rotterdam should have a good insight on him and the other Albion lad we signed.

I can add to this after July 1st OCD...

Rico - signed pro on 17th birthday. Can play wide left/right or as a 10. Great things were expected, but a couple of long term hamstring injuries held him back. Had a decent end to his third year at u21 level. A bit lightweight. Lovely kid, very introverted. I suspect he'll be an u21 squad player, maybe laoned out to see if he kicks on. Maybe worth a few quid in 18mths. Won't get near 1st team.

JJ - u16. Didn't sign a scholarship. Villa have paid a fee. Comes from a background whereby a confirmed pro will mean the world. Plays as an 8 mainly. Tall and athletic. Can be lazy. Dropped out England u17 set up despite playing in qualifying games, didn't make Euro squad. Good on his day...another cheap'ish gamble. Not as good or driven as Tim Iroegbunam.

Thanks Rotters. I'd guess Richards either goes straight out on loan or he's involved with the U21's for the first half season and then goes out on loan.

Who are the next off the production line. It feels like Ramsey, Tim, Archer have out grown U23 football but not sure who the next likely lads are (beyond Feeney).
