I agree with that, but it wasn’t a studs-up season-ender.

I’ve watched it now and unai corrects himself. He says out for a long time and then says no actually hopefully not such a long time. I think he just misspoke.
I watched the video of the presser, and agree. His comments looked worse on paper than they sounded.
Agreed. My birth year always looks worse on the paper.

It’s no more than a yellow, but it’s definitely a yellow for a couple of reasons.

One other thing about Bouba - I’m reading here that he is injury prone, but aside from the odd niggle here and there, he’s really just had one big injury with us prior to this one. That’s not really comparable to the perma-injured Onana and Barkley, is it?

I also wonder how much that injury has had the effect of shielding “superclub” attention from him and, as a consequence, keeping him at Villa for longer. Put another way, but for the ACL, would he still be with us?

Games missed as per transfermarkt 22/23 - 17, 23/24 - 35, 24/25 - 6 , 25/26 - 4. Barkley not really a replacement, midfield of him and Tielemans would be ran all over in the PL.

I looking forward to seeing what Bogarde can do for a few weeks, whilst Onana gets fit.  It could be the making of the man.
Agreed, although I’d tend to think Bogarde is pretty well “there” already, just lacks a bit of experience.

I think the real opportunity is for Hemmings.

Is Hemmings allowed to play in Europe seeing as he is under-21 or is that just a Premier League rule?

PL games missed each season he's been with us, 14, 18, 12, 3 so far.

Hopefully enough to put off the big clubs. Also enough to keep onana/Bogarde/Hemmings happy.

I know it’s counter intuitive but every injury presents an opportunity if the squad balance is right.

Probably enough for Bouba to miss out on the France World Cup squad. Palhinha went straight through him with no intent to get the ball. The intent to injure him was the only objective. It's a shame as a club we're so nice and never complain about anything. Bouba should sue the twat.

I’m not sure he intended to injure him, he intended to stop him through foul play. Don’t get me wrong I think he’s a useless clogger who should get punished, and could have had about 5 yellows in that game, but I don’t think he set out with the intent to injure Kamara.

We'll never know but he went in hard with no intention of playing the ball. A basic 'fuck the consequences'.

Yeah but I think it’s pretty clear it was a cynical, stop play type foul. Typically when you’re trying to injury it’s studs up, stamping etc.

The thug made no attempt to play the ball, only Kamara. As easy a yellow card a ref could have (especially after the Cash challenge moments earlier), wishing to stamp his authority on any game. The ref bottled doing his job against one of the media darlings.

There's a huge range on a cynical, stop play type foul from your tap on the ankle type trip to your full on Palhinha take the player out. It doesn't have to be a studs up, stamping would have been less aggressive. Bouba got lucky as he only had one foot on the ground, running at speed. I love a full on tackle as much as anybody but that wasn't even a challenge, it was intent to injure.

Here's another, this time on Rogers, you could argue he played the ball but the intent again was to injure.

I think the Rogers one has clearer intent to injure.

Paulinha is a ******, but let’s not imitate their weird obsession with Matty Cash.
