One other thing about Bouba - I’m reading here that he is injury prone, but aside from the odd niggle here and there, he’s really just had one big injury with us prior to this one. That’s not really comparable to the perma-injured Onana and Barkley, is it?I also wonder how much that injury has had the effect of shielding “superclub” attention from him and, as a consequence, keeping him at Villa for longer. Put another way, but for the ACL, would he still be with us?

It could be the making of the man.Agreed, although I’d tend to think Bogarde is pretty well “there” already, just lacks a bit of experience.I think the real opportunity is for Hemmings.

PL games missed each season he's been with us, 14, 18, 12, 3 so far.

Also enough to keep onana/Bogarde/Hemmings happy. I know it’s counter intuitive but every injury presents an opportunity if the squad balance is right.
