Fucking hell. Read all the doom and gloom and went frantically searching the threat for confirmation of a Mingsesque ACL.

This is the Villa we're talking about though. It's not unreasonable to be struck dumb with terror when the manager says a player is going to be out for some time, because it invariably turns out to be true in the Captain Oates sense.

Not my usual contact but still. Knees still swollen. Patella issue/may even have dislocated and popped back in. He doesn’t think there’s any ligament damage but until swellings gone down and more scans then it’s still up in air

If I was guessing I’d be saying 6-8 weeks - back after March internationals (I hope worst case)

Thank you. Given the mechanism of injury, and the details you have provided here, I think your source is reliable. I will be looking out for any other updates you provide.

I’ve watched it now and unai corrects himself. He says out for a long time and then says no actually hopefully not such a long time. I think he just misspoke.
For those reading the press conference runes, cast your minds back to the presser after Bouba did his ACL - think we were playing away at Luton. There he was very frank about the timescales and issued a call to arms to Iroegbunam (“now it’s my time” - injured for tomorrow, btw). All blood and thunder.

At yesterday’s presser, he seemed pretty relaxed to me. No talk about Hemmings stepping up.

But it was early in the game…..so it wasn’t a yellow. Tossers.

Every cloud etc.  Looking forward to seeing what Bogarde can do over the next few weeks, whilst Onana gets fit.  It could be the making of the man.

Agreed, although I’d tend to think Bogarde is pretty well “there” already, just lacks a bit of experience.

I think the real opportunity is for Hemmings.

One other thing about Bouba - I’m reading here that he is injury prone, but aside from the odd niggle here and there, he’s really just had one big injury with us prior to this one. That’s not really comparable to the perma-injured Onana and Barkley, is it?

I also wonder how much that injury has had the effect of shielding “superclub” attention from him and, as a consequence, keeping him at Villa for longer. Put another way, but for the ACL, would he still be with us?

Has anyone got a link to the incident where he got injured. It looked like a coming together where they ran into each other from where I was sitting. The MOTD and TNT highlights don’t show it. The challenge on Rogers was more forceful and certainly deserving of a yellow card.

the frustrating thing about the injuries for the three players mentioned here, is there is always 1 or 2 of them not available - I think Barkley needs to be moved on, I ge tEmery likes him and he's useful, but surely that's wages and a squad space that we could be using more productivley

Maybe Hemmings can be considered that person come the end iof the season.

I do feel that some upward momentum from our youth system is the ann area to improve.  The buzz from a homegrown player is unique, the wages typically less and ultimately will help from an accountancy perspective.

Yet he booked one of our players 2 minutes after he came on. The ref was pretty hopeless all night really.

It was an unnecessary high challenge on Kamara (who had the ball at his feet) from the thug, in an area of the pitch, which didn't warrant that kind of contact and was certainly deserving of at least a yellow, no matter the minute it occurred in.
