If he was English, he'd be getting plenty of attention.  Honestly, the less said about him in the media the better. I think as long as he's getting in the French squad (which I'm sure is a professional aim), then his going under the radar and not being sold by media from right under our noses is a good thing.

Interestingly, Onana has had a few plaudits recently but I wonder if that's because the narrative gets to talk about his fee, and him "justifying it at last".

France have half a dozen in Kamara position who are top class bit like England with attacking wide(r) players / number 10s.

Unfortunately This is a classic case of he’s not in the national team because of who he plays for whether we like it or not, it’s one of the reasons players want to leave sometimes

Totally disagree. He's a classic 4 not a 6. 6's play alongside the centre halves.

4 was often a midfielder, with the 5 and 6 central defenders. Kent Neilsen was often a 6. But in modern football 6 is a CDM.

Keown, Ciaran Clark and james Collins were all 6s too. But agree that a 6 is a defensive midfielder in todays football. Same way Gary Shaw was number 8, but not an 8.

No. Brian Godfrey was number 4 midfield rock in front of defence and Tiler and Turnbull were 5 and 6  centre halves when football started and that's how it should be.

Of course there are centre backs who had the number 6, it's being taken too literally. It doesn't stop the common description of a '6' meaning a DM and an '8' meaning a box-to-box or more creative type midfielder.
