Showing exactly why we sent him out on loan at the start of the season. The fact he’s an upgrade on Guessand is credit to nobody.

Sadly I have to agree, they are both shit.

I don’t think he is. Not saying Guessand is ace or anything but being played on the wing when he’s not a winger didn’t help.

Leon Bailey just looks done as a top tier footballer. It’s very sad to see given how we remember him in that one season where he was quite superb at times.

Guess(and) we’ll see.

Hesitates at crucial times, his self confidence has gone and so has his bravery.

I don’t mean bravery in an Ugo Ehiogu sense more the bravery to go in for a ball knowing he might get hurt.

Sancho really showed him up today.

I mean he was utter crap but every man and his dog knows he’s going to cut back on his left foot, if you’re going to play him try him on the left where he might be able to get a cross quicker or get the the byline. His lack of effort in trying to go get the ball back when he lost it just before being subbed rightly left a lot of the crowd furious.

Agree with all the comments about how poor he was, but ultimately one has to question why he was picked.

Waste of a shirt, was the same before he went to Roma and I see he’s still the same. No wonder they sent him back.

He obviously had a poor game, but I think starting him and Buendia just doesn’t really work. Unless they’re both at their absolute best their lack of physicality gets exposed.

Indeed.

And Leon makes a good point, the fact we're apparently hamstrung on spending but spaffed so much fucking money up the wall on a player as utterly shit as Guessand kind of lessens our argument. To then move him on and bring back Bailey, who wasn't good enough at the start of the season but seemingly is now, makes our transfer policy look an absolute car-crash.

I do look back on the Guessand stuff and think why not just get Asensio back? Perhaps it’s the wages, but it’s a player Unai obviously wanted versus a chunk of money on a player who isn’t up to it/isn’t the right fit,

Makes it curious as to why Jimoh Aloba was sent out on loan, yes he’s raw but he’d offer more than Bailey and at least give us a few more options out wide.

Guessand didn't do as well as we hoped, that's pretty obvious, but we clearly wanted to add some more physicality to the squad and he looked like he might bring that for what was, in reality, a pretty decent fee if he'd found anything like the form he was showing in France.

I don't think it was either/or with Asensio though, I suspect we always wanted to bring Asensio in but with his wages we needed to get a higher earner or 2 out to make it happen and we struggled to move on the players we were happy to see go.
