Also, could they be moving the tunnel into the corner there in that pic? That would make room for a few more seats as well.

I think the Purslow plan had the tunnel moving?

It did and I suspect it is moving but they have it in the wrong place on the current photo.

As Ads said I think the wheelchair seats are moving elsewhere to make the space for the changes to remove the walkway.

And you can see from the sketches the entrance/exits are being changed as well as up and down steps so it’s deliberate and clearly what is happening!

Only realistic place for 1200 seats.

Planning permission not withstanding, the plan is to start in October I believe.

How short-sighted it seems, with all the limitations on building backwards to Witton Lane, to have the front rows of the DE so far away from the pitch. Anybody know why?

The walkway needed to get to the seats isn’t it? Presumably because there was so little room behind? When it was first installed they left the original seats there but the lower tier had ti be rebuilt after asbestos was found!

I suspect these works are for new disabled places. It stops other fans encroaching on the pitch there and frees up the space for development on Trinity side.

Bottom was the original stand wasn't it. I thought the only work done at the time was to add the second tier.

Looking at the new layout of seats posted in the ST thread, the only new disabled seats are near the Holte.

Oh yes, I think you’re right.

It was pretty much the 1897 layout when it was built in 1994/95, built but Doug’s builders messed it up and the old lower teir had to be removed the season after the stand was opened. The new lower teir then had to adhere to modern standards, which caused the problems with the big gap at the front and blocking sight lines from the Holte.

Because Ellis did it on the cheap, just for a change. First there was the asbestos problem, then the sightings. Penny wise, pound foolish again.
