Why don't we get Ryanair chap O'Leary involved in repurposing and we will have 80,000 seater stadium without structural changes?

Have they considered digging down to lower the pitch level by a few metres ? That would create scope for a lot more seats.

Realistically, could we drop the pitch half a metre and get a few rows of seats around the perimeter?

Strikes me, if Real Madrid can store their pitch in a bunker we should be able to drop it to the lowest possible level to provide a compliant/decent pitch.  It’d be two fingers up to all the new bowl stadiums that seem miles from the pitch and would provide for a better gig experience too.

Win v win v win right?

Or more simply, what UK Redsox said.

Fingers up to mathematics and physics too.

Joking apart, imagine the immense cost, for a row or two of seats.

Is there any safe standing in North Stand, I can't remember? If not, is there any plan to install any?

It’s considerably cheaper than add a few row to the tops of each stand!

Honestly, as a QS, I think it would be cheaper/easier than most alternative options assuming there is space.  Building below the water table is considerably less risky nowadays and common place in cities.

£5 to take a piss though. And all bags to be weighed and measured.

No, there isn't. And I don't think there is any scope to with current regs; not without digging out concrete etc. There are 2 steps per row as it is which wouldn't really work from a h&s perspective I don't think. Having said that, everyone stands there anyway.

Imagine digging down a few meters to gain some extra rows of seats? Each extra row of seats moves the stand closer to the pitch hence making the pitch narrower. It doesn't work. In fact it's physically impossible.

Amazing how many people don't get that. Although I think UKR was taking the piss, TBF!

Just put a big screen where the pitch used to be and play the game elsewhere. Decrease screen size every time capacity needs to increase.

The dropping of the pitch would mean the front rows of the stands wouldn't need to be closed for European bigger advertising boards (assuming we do that).

Isn't there still a water tank under the pitch or was that removed?
