RFU need to spend £600m + to upgrade Twickenham.Work won't start till 2027.Will be renamed Allianz Arena. Can only afford to do it in stages.According to the Guardian they had considered a move to a new greenfield site in Birmingham.
Mutual interest ?
That would work

It really wouldn't, the only way you could have a shared rugby and football stadium would be if you had a simple way to swap the pitches in and out, without that you end up with a surface that's not good enough for football.
I work at a site where the PL use the pitches for events for a 2-4 weeks a years. They amount of time they can be let out for use by others is massively reduced by the fact they have to meet a standard set by the PL just for a few weeks use in the summer.

Anyway, I don't think the RFU have any intention of leaving Twickenham, they're rebuilding it. So it's a moot point.

I know, I just found the idea that a premier league club could share a rugby ground was particularly stupid, probably the sort of comment that only someone who has never either been on a rugby pitch or even watched much of the sport would make. Even keeping the pitches playable for rugby with about 15 games a season is a fucking huge effort.

Lots of rugby and football teams share grounds. Wigan Athletic and Warriors at whatever the JJB is called these days, Bristol City and Bears at Ashton Gate to name but two grounds.

I can get on board with a new stadium. It's all the faff-ing about that frustrates me. To have gone so public about doing the North, and hinting at a future new stand on the Witton you would imagine they must have considered and firmly ruled out a new stadium. They had the local authorities all on board with the project.

If it is back to the drawing board (and officially it's just indefinite postponement) then we have wasted two and a half years on this. I think Everton's new stadium broke ground in 2021 and will be ready next year.

I just think it's been badly handled -

Something on the H&V Facebook page about doing something to the Holte.
I’ll see if I can load it on here.

Just do what Spurs do and have interchangeable pitches / surfaces

Where's that from? I can't see that any new plans have been submitted.

Talking of which, I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere but that new fan zone is only temporary. It's up for two years while they do the Warehouse, then they'll take it down.

Has some sleuth found this somewhere or is it fake?

As I said on the FB page, it's hard to make out the details but it looks like it's dated 2022, which if correct makes it pre-Heck and therefore not worth getting excited about.

It's this plan submitted two years ago as part of the North Stand plans.

Somebody's just added a bit on to the Holte in red pen.

I  don’t believe that the new cohort on the board have been brought in to arse about with a bit of extra hospitality. I mean, Ellis could have done that, never mind NSWE, without any outside expertise.

Well, okay, maybe not Ellis.

Ahh, cheers, mate.
