ManU are listed on the New York Stock Exchange and domiciled in the Cayman Islands.

The Glazers have taken  £1.1bn out of the club.

Jim Ratcliffe is a tax exile and moving to Monaco is estimated to have saved him £4bn, he's worth £23bn.

They can pay for it between them - not a penny from tax payers.

I think public investment in a 'Wembley of the North' is a good idea, personally.

Put it out there for the public to donate, and for every £1 given, Man Utd match fund £5.

All of the money raised is then given to charity and the wankers pay for their own fucking stadium.

Of course the important bit is that they're looking at a complete new build on a slightly different site because it's cheaper, quicker and less disruptive.

I doubt it's cheaper, quicker and less disruptive than building a new North Stand, which is exactly what we should be doing. 

(accepted that if there's no overlap of sites whatsoever then theoretically it could be less disruptive in terms of crowd capacity - but I don't see how they can build without some overlap and stand closures.)

They could build a whole new stadium on the car park behind the Stretford End without touching the new site, it's nothing like the issues we have.

Replacing a stand is obviously more disruptive than a new stadium because it means a season or 2 of reduced capacity and any club will be faced with that same choice.

I doubt they wanted to go into a Champions League season (after the long break) with only 3 stands in play .

I'm not so sure.  I reckon they would need some stand closures.





Either way, it ain't cheaper or quicker than rebuilding the North and the cancellation of that project is going to leave us miles behind most of our major competitors in the PL in terms of capacity and stadium income generation. 

Spurs, Arsenal, Liverpool and West Ham are all done.  Man U already have 70k and are looking at 90k

Man City are increasing to 60k
Everton - have built 53k stadium
Newcastle - currently 52k, plans to increase to 60k in place.
Even Leicester have a plan to get to 40k (inc hotel, events areana etc), so will all but match us in capacity but potentially ahead of us in non-football commercial stadium income.
Crystal Palace (increasing to 34k) will be closer to our capacity than we are to any of our major rivals.

Well yeah, building an entire stadium is obviously more expensive and more work than 1 stand, but no one has even suggested it would be. The assessment made by Man Utd is that upgrading their current ground will cost £200m more and will take 12-18months longer than a new stadium. That's why a new stadium is appealing.

The new Stadium of The North should definitely be funded by taxpayers money. The government paid for the Etihad Stadium for Ci£y to use so it's only fair that Yanited get one too.
