The vast majority of fans won’t be counting the trophies let alone thinking it’s small time or not to have x trophy on it or anything that might be missing. That isn’t to say if they commit to that project it shouldn’t be accurate. But for most it will be glance at it and move on. Most are not internet/social media crowd paying that close attention in the summer.

It is inaccurate, the fact that most people won't know about it yada yada doesn't come in to it.

It's just one of:

a. incorrect, as someone assigned the wrong number of league titles.
b. the small time ness of including second division wins. Who the fuck celebrates those? We should be embarassed we were there in the first place, not putting trophies on stands to celebrate getting out.
c. if b is true, it's even more wrong as they've used the wrong trophy.

If some piss pot half rival did this, we'd be laughing at them.

We need to get shit like this right, there is no excuse. It's a clanger.

If some piss pot half rival did this we wouldn’t even know about it to laugh at them. We wouldn’t be paying any attention to it. Most of us have absolutely no idea what ground changes, improvements have taken place at any other club unless you went out of your way to find out.

Well, we would - this is going to get covered in social and probably national media too.

Lots of things don't get covered in social or national media but are also wrong.

Aren't you in marketing? Wouldn't you be annoyed if a project you were involved with got something like this wrong? Incorrectly displaying the number of league championships we've won. That's pretty fucking big, it really is.

It's not quite the Small Heath diary honours list, but it's not far off.

We get a lot of things right these days, but I don't know why anyone would use that as a reason to overlook fundamental stuff like this.

You should go to a football match there really if you are comparing that to what we have now.

I've been four or five times to matches there and it's generally very impressive.
Yeah - that's a fair point.  I had the opportunity to go a few years back to watch England there - but Mrs Beard was away and I couldn't get babysitters.

Besides, I find it far more effective to make sweeping generalisations based on incomparable samples.  Much easier - and much more in-keeping with the modern world - so much simpler than thinking things through.  But I was surprised by how underwhelmed I was by the venue.

To be fair - I had a weird health "thing" in the spring - and am now deaf in one ear - so that might have affected my "feeling" of the atmosphere.  That said - I have been to other gigs, Villa games and the cricket since and hadn't noticed any change in the "feeling" of the atmosphere - even if the sounds have been slightly different than previously.

Someone at the club fucked up. There's no defending it as 'yeah but', they fucked up and deserve to be called out.

TBH i necver go to gigs at mega venues like stadiums or festivals because I assume the sound quality will be shite. Once you've done a few gigs at Symphony Hall, it turns you into a sound snob.

You read the bit where I said the project should be correct right? That goes without saying. But I would be stunned if it got any significant national media attention at all. If anything, it will get the cursory glance at our titles on a match day. The bigger issue is that most of them were in the era of black and white TV or before than anything specific to the trophies that are actually listed and what might wrong. It’s not like we moved our European cup from 1982 to 2022.

I agree with that. But I would also contend that most won’t even notice it beyond a few eagle eyed trainspotters on the internet. And I would hope if it is fixable the club addresses it.

I'd imagine the majority of Villa fans know how many titles won, as will a lot of other fans. You don't need to be a trainspotter to know what your club has won. In fact any adult Villa fan that doesn't know 7, 7, 5, 1, 1, should have a word with themselves.

I've been to plenty of festivals and generally found the sound to be good - a few Glastonbury's where the wind has caused issues.  I find at stadiums your position is key - they tend to use these hanging speakers and if you're positioned too near the speaker and the roof -  the sound is distorted.   Like you say though - they're not venues designed for that kind of acoustics.

We will agree to disagree. While our generation might have an appreciation for it, a large consistent of fans will have no clue about history. Certainly not the specifics of how many of the major trophies we’ve won. It’s been so long since we won any of them. But there will be a large chunk of the population that couldn’t tell you the first thing about either World War or anything of significance that you would think they should know. Maybe I’ve been living in North America too long, and for a decent amount of time in the US. The dumbing of the world is happening all around us.

I've been twice to see the Villa in the League Cup and it has been fucking depressing. ;-)

With all respect, no it isn't. I don't care if a lot of that silverware was won pre television. We still won it. I think it's a great idea to put something like that on the ground. We should be ramming down the throats of everyone who sees it that we have won all that stuff.

I care that we've got the numbers wrong. That's a truly awful base level mistake to make, and I hope Heck is doing his nut right now, because he needs to be.

Getting the number of league championships wrong is utterly embarassing. If any other club did that and we saw it. we'd be pissing ourselves. It's piss poor.

Put it right.

They don't pay to go to something to do with WW2 20 times a year. Don't buy WW2 merch. And so on. It would be some going to be a Villa fan at VP and not know what we've won. The club mention it, there's books on it, media mention it, social media pages about football mention it.

I was at the 1977 one, aged 9, in with the Everton fans in my claret and blue gear (my Dad bought the tickets in some boozer in town the night before the game as i was gutted about not going - he's not even a Villa fan, he's a Blues fan, but fair play, did that for me. He didn't fully realise we'd be surrounded by scousers).

Surely the worst final match ever played at Wembley.
