Basically that he got injured, but it's not a bad one.

We probably don’t win today without him
When people call for him to go or to be replaced they should remember that

Those two stunning saves are the equivalent of two goals. Interesting listening to Unai wax lyrical about him today.

Fantastic today. Those two words sum up Martinez

He was absolutely fantastic.. Today.

Unai was definitely not waxing lyrical, though.

He actually said what most of us are beginning to realize.

“When Emiliano is focusing like today….”

Inferring that Martinez is not always focused.

Thankfully, we have the best coach in the world to try and get Martinez to be more stable and reduce his “attention deficit” occasions.

Today, he won us the game. He sometimes loses us the game. That’s the life of most goalkeepers. It’s all about percentages.. how often does he win us the game/how often does he lose us the game.

A fair bit uninformed, but yes at 33, he is nearing a crossroads.

I'm not sure that is old for a goalie.

Aren’t his wages something like £200k week?  that will be a barrier to sale I think because he’s unlikely to take a pay cut unless they’re offering something unique that we can’t.

Read the comments - they really kick the shit out of the "journo" who wrote this AND the BBC's anti-Villa, pro Greedy6 bias.

It appeared to me that Konsa didn’t approve of his antics. The new rules which attempt to cut out shithousery are challenging Emi but he’s doing his best to maintain some level.

The comment providers seem to be far better informed than the BBC reporter.

Konsa had wanted him to throw the ball to the left wing, and of course he didn't and then went down with that fake 'ooh it hurts' thing....

Exactly it was an in the moment reaction to not rolling the ball to the left to start the break. Too much being made of it. Martinez does have back issues anyway!

Unai was definitely not waxing lyrical, though.

By Unai's standards he was. He used the word 'fantastic' to describe Emi six times. Up until very recently he wouldn't even discuss individual performances.
