The best thing I can say about Emi Martinez is that he is one of the few - possibly only two - players I have seen for Villa who is the best in the world in their position at the time they played. The only other I can think of is Paul Mcgrath.
That's a very good way of putting it.
Both were/are flawed geniuses and as such prone to mistakes and poor games.  Yet, both were/are the best at that moment in time.

You could say he was responsible for the Everton loss as much as he was responsible for the Newcastle win on Sunday.

One of our best ever players and certainly our best ever keeper. As he’s contracted till 2029 he ain’t going anywhere cheaply.

I would say partly responsible for the Everton. It wasn't entirely his fault and we really should be scoring against that lot. We didn't play well as a team. His save in the first few seconds against Newcastle completely changes what that game could have been. 1-0 down inside a minute to a team we almost always lose to would be have been crushing.
