I think he has still been very good generally since the Man U transfer debacle.  However for me he seems less exuberant and bombastic than he was .  Timings are everything we would need a replacement and obviously what £ we could get for him

It wouldn’t surprise me at all if he left in this transfer window.

I'm thinking similar having seen Unai's press conference. A real knife in the back if he wants to leave now, not that we have to sell him now but having our best season in years and to have a key player more focused on moving than winning games and picking up trophies with Villa this season. Hopefully Unai is just pissed off with the long list of injuries.

Hopefully. But we’ve seen this before both in general terms with AV and with Martinez not being available as linked with a move away and his head ‘not being right to play.’ To be honest, I adored the bloke, but since the summer, it’s very much been a case of waiting for the inevitable and him being just another, albeit good, player that will go probably having tarnished his cred.

He always said he'd stay as long as we keep developing. November, December 2024 we looked lost, going no where so I can see his thinking. Right now financially we've our hands tied behind our backs, injuries are killing us off, even Unai claiming we can't compete with the top 5, are we still developing?

We’re not being allowed to. But equally, we could have qualified for the champions league last season. There’s always a way to handle these things as well and Martinez handled it badly. Embarrassingly so.
