I suspect he’ll be gone in the summer, to be remembered fondly for his time at Villa

It's not just him though, I watch most matches and the formats the same, block the keeper, surround him so he can't move. Not just that, the hanging on in the penalty box, why should a player be able to put his arms around an apponent, turn his back to the play to stop an apponents movement. Its about time refs got serious about blocking and give a few penalties and free kicks out.

I don't know the stats on this, but does Martinez (as a goalie) hold the record for the number of times he's subbed off or doesn't last the warm-up,  this season? Especially during away fixtures?
45 mins vs Palace this season.

I think he’s carrying an injury that flares up. And as a keeper who we expect to dive around and stretch for crosses and shots playing when there is a doubt hurts us more than it might an outfield player. I don’t think there is any kind of conspiracy around. He’s never had a history of this in the past.

I get your point TV. I liken it to Rimmer who came off because he knew he didn’t want to let the team down when it really mattered.

Personally, I have a feeling he’s starting to feel his age.

I don't think so, tonight I suspect it was just a small problem with his calf. He didn't take a couple of kicks late in the first half and even the ones he did were all short passes along the floor. Not worth him staying on and risking something serious if he's not right.

Confirmed small calf injury.

At least it's not his back. Rest him for the FA Cup and have been back for the Everton game.

So he went off because of a calf injury? I love animals but leaving an important game to drive a vet to his farm isn't on.

For a keeper he doesn’t half pick up minor injuries. Most annoying.

Isn’t this just a product of our play? We play extremely daring but when you look at our win percentage, it’s certainly paying off.
