A year ago I'd have been really pissed off to read this about Martinez, but he hasn't been the same this season.  Prior to that he's been ace, so he'd go (hopefully for big money) with my best wishes.

Bailey, yeah get as much as possible for him.  Last season aside, when he was great, he's been a frustrating watch at times.

It’s the right time to let him go, he’s been well below par this season but would still generate a decent fee.

Boh. If he goes, shows his head really is gone and that's fine, hope he enjoys retirement. If he doesn't, shows he still wants to be the best. Choice is his.

I'd be surprised if he chooses to go to the Saudi league a year before what is likely to be his last World Cup with Argentina.

He's such a fixture there that I reckon he could swan around whichever league he wanted and it wouldn't cost him his international place.

I wasn't thinking of him losing his place, more staying sharp and being at the top of his game for the tournament.

There are quite a few decent attackers he will still have to face, in theory with lesser defenders in front of him. He might actually be sharper.

I disagree with getting rid of him, a few soft goals and everyone wants to throw the baby out with the bathwater. Not many more reliable keepers around.

I don't want him to go at all.

A few soft goals is underplaying it a bit I think.  That said, he's also made some sensational saves this season and has been probably suffering from playing behind an ever changing back 4 and central defensive partnership, which really can't help keepers too much.  His distribution is generally excellent.
He's still a good keeper and a notch or three above the likes of Robin Olsen.  But, it might be the best time to wave him off, if the money is tempting and it's not to another premier league club.

It's not a question of wanting him to go, I just feel there's no way we'll allow any player to decline on top money on our books, we literally cannot afford to.

An average Emi Martinez is still better than ninety percent of the keepers in the Premier.

Yeah, I think that's where the club is at with it and also believe it is smart and needs to be how we operate.

HOWEVER, Emi Martinez needs to be exempt on the basis that I have severe man love for him. I'll be gutted when he goes. Not many characters in football anymore...ignoring the fact he's comfortably the best keeper we've had in my lifetime.

Let's have a bit of caution about all the let's sell Martinez messages. When Liverpool signed Alisson from Roma it was Monchi that replaced him with Olsen. Whilst that could have been a one of lapse of judgement everyone has a weakness I'm just scared that judging goalkeepers could be Manchis
