On certain words the Canadian accent is pretty Scottish sounding.
Me grandmother lived in Canada as a child, and it was apparently full of Scots at the time. I'm not sure why, but imagine it might have something to do with the whole "not banning booze" thing, unlike their ridiculous neighbours.
