Emi’s dad wants him to go to a warmer city!

He'll get to visit Athens twice in the next 6 weeks. What more does he need?

He’s a pantomime villain , we know it , refs know it , so it only needs the slightest misdemeanour on his behalf to have the ref reaching for the pocket. But at the end of the day that’s what he’s all about and I for one hope he never changes in this respect.

Three yellows between the group stage and the Semi's is a ban. He got three. So not sure why you think they made something up? Olympiacos is also missing a player for the first leg for similar card totting.

Except that UEFA own website says
Exceptionally, all yellow cards and pending yellow-card suspensions expire on completion of the play-offs. They are not carried forward to the league phase. In addition, all yellow cards expire on completion of the quarter-finals. They are not carried forward to the semi-finals.

And Brighton. That’s a seaside place too.

Yes, I know you can’t, but I still think we should be allowed to challenge those yellow cards.
Neither were warranted, it was just the ref saying ‘Look at me’

I’d go as far as saying all the yellows in the game were questionable, awful referee

I don’t disagree but if you think back to the restart after the World Cup and the start of the season he was getting a lot of yellow cards but he’s cut that out and his discipline has been good.
He’ll be back in the spotlight, after Thursday, so I think we’ll see an increase in him getting yellow cards again.

There were quite a lot of professional fouls and they do attract an automatic yellow card.

Fair point, but taking just ours, Zaniolo, Unai, Duran, Martinez x2 and Rogers were never yellow in any other game, Digne was unlucky as their guy made such a meal of it and Ollie, I suppose can’t argue given the lump on that guys head. Even so I felt he was unlucky.

That just means if you were ON TWO before, they reset so you can only miss the final through a red card (or the same three yellows Emi did, ie one in Penalty time). It doesn't stop the suspension. That is only removed between initial rounds and group stages. (the first line in the quoted paragraph).

“Emiliano Martinez runs over to Austin MacPhee and tells him Neto can't see from corners due to the sun, instructing team-mates to stand on Neto and whip crosses directly into the six-yard box”.

Technically, it was only one save, since the whistle went after the first one!
