I think he might be the best player we’ve had since I’ve been watching Villa (1996), never mind the best keeper.

He isn't as good as McGrath.

2nd place is up for grabs. Yorke, Grealish and Milner would be the other 3 along with Emi in top 5.

I think he's usually pretty good at walking the line with his behaviour, and even Emery said after the game that he is always in control of himself. Last night though, the referee was a complete twat, and it was impossible to tell where the line was. If he's not suspended for the SF 1st leg then it's all good and we don't have to worry, but if he is we might all be wishing he waited until the 2nd save to shush the crowd.

Why will he be out of the next game? The rules seem quite clear in that all yellow cards expire at the end of the quarter finals.

Their seems variance potentially between cards and suspensions, in this below the suspensions is specified post play off, but not after 1/4s? 🤷🏻‍♂️

On completion of the quarter final cards are wiped.

Cowans and Little are alongside McGrath. Emi might make it to  the 'top 5 pantheon' after this season, though.

The French media, the crowd and the ref made it all about Emi.
Yet still somehow he managed to keep it together just enough to win the tie.
The bloke has some Hutzpah.

Unfortunately, the ref lost it early in this game, mistaking Emi dribbling slowly out of the penalty area as 'wasting time'. And, booking Z for a clumsy 'bump' into the impressive rightback; so far off the ball that it was nether here nor there.
Then, booking both managers seemed like a rush to the head.
And, his management of the penalties was ludicrous, as well as almost cramping the penalty-taker out with his proximity to the taker.

The booking of the two managers was the stupid 4th official's fault  as well or whoever it was. Even though they had stopped arguing and Unai had walked away, he couldn't wait to call the ref over. He should have just used some common sense and told them both the calm down.

Still Rimmer for me but Emi is second now.

I thinK Emi has edged Rimmer out.

I loved Jimmy, but this season I'm also siding with Emi as being better than Jimmy.

Yellow cards are wiped, suspensions are not. If the third yellow counts then he will be suspended.

I wonder if we can appeal the time wasting one? Seems like it shouldn't have been a booking. He'd probably have a decent argument that he was looking for the ball in the shootout too.

Ace, well said lad. I do wonder if he enjoyed it quite as much though when Emi was dancing in front of the Man U fans when we won 1-0 there under Smith.

You can't appeal yellow cards can you? Even the really silly ones.

No idea. Maybe if they've led to a cumulative suspension because the referee is a plank? In all seriousness though, if a player is going to miss a massive game because of a ref being shit at his job then there should be some route for appeal, but I suppose it could be abused too, so probably not.
