He wasn't close to joining Arsenal, they bid, we rejected it and he signed a new contract.

Gabby has all the credibility of a Liz Truss budget.

Using Gabbys opinion to try and prove a point. You have officially peaked.

Well I could take it as circumstancal but the context of 3 bids is relative.
Strong interest and numerous bids indicated that the situation was tight. Then, if approved, Doug would have signed to Arsenal. How near a player can get? Not much closer than that? We can agree to differ, but at the time, on deadline day, reports indicated that Luiz was actually on the verge of leaving, and with a new contract signed with a likely relase clause then it more less confirmed this from my interpretation.
Anyhow, let's return to Martinez.

Gabby played the game knows the players , and he nows about premier league player contracts because he been in dressing room his hypothesis on the scenario is strong in this instance as he comes from experience based position.

The club didn't accept the offer. Therefore, he was as close to leaving as you are to ever saying something vaguely sensible, ie, nowhere near.

I really dislike how people equate disagreeing with someone elses view as that view being folly.
Guess have to accept that but it's annoying.

There's a difference between a view and presenting it as fact, although stable substantiation benefits both.

Just try for one day NOT inventing madcap theories that have no grounding in reality. We can, and do, all disagree about everything to do with Villa, but nobody else invents things to the level you do.

I thought the love for Footy-Vill was growing but people are punching-down again. The site would be far less entertaining without him, so come on, smile wryly at his observations and move on.

There's always a mate in the pub who's a bit of a character but you don't jump down his throat for everything outlandish he says. You just ask him to get the next round in, soft lad.

There is no authority outside of the mods and the rules, and your assertions are actually just founded on more interpretation.
You or other dissenters will only find me sensible if what I say makes sense in the context of your own stories.
Otherwise, it's branded as crazy, which is unfair because it casts scorn on attempts to discuss and debate subjects that ok maybe not everyone but some may want to consider.
As we have veered off topic, I believe Martinez should be the main emphasis of this discussion and let us go back to this

Well said Eamonn, this site is a lot more interesting to read when Footy-Vill expresses his opinion. I agree with many of his views and some of his other views give me food for thought.

His insight into forthcoming opponents, referees, player demands etc are very welcome.

Thinking outside the box. I like it and live my life by it.

Furthermore its interesting when everyone is giving varied opinions and want to discuss whatever they want without feeling pushed around or given a sense to be ridiculed. Ok I'm an idealist.
We all have our theories.

True Footy- Ville.

Back to Martinez. I think Unai does not have full confidence in him and that's why he often has 2 goalies on the bench!! Martinez is a maverick, likely to be booked or sent off at any time and Unai wants more back up in this specialist position.

Martinez is a great shot stopper, has presence but if his style of play doesn't improve and meet Unai's preferred style, I think we should cash in asap.

I'm with eamonn.  Every so often there seems to be some kind of pile-on with our Footy, I'm not sure it's useful or necessary.  I know some of his opinions/theories are a bit out there - but if you're not allowed a blatantly flawed view of the football club you support, then ...
