I don't think Emery would want the distraction which is fair enough. A song may do the trick..

'The World's Number one, the World's Number one, Emi Martinez the World's Number one'.

Catchy, huh?

That song is banned from the club by the captain due to its links with the blue half of Glasgow. Nothing would send him to Dublin quicker than playing that song

Journo and Villa man Dan Bardell is realistic and being a bit of ITKer seems to suggest he's going if you read bewteen the lines.

"I just think ... If the right team came in with the right money, I think Villa would sell him and I think it would be an amicable split."
Well, yes! Statement of the bleedin' obvious. And we should know - look what happened to JG.

"Right team offering the right money" can be applied to any player

The guy's got his head screwed on. Making sure his parents are secure before trinkets. Wanting to face real challenges rather than going after the easy things.

Spot on, this quote says and means nothing. It’s totally vacuous.

It says if there’s a club he wants to go to, that’s offers him washes that he likes, and that offers a sum of money that Villa find acceptable, he might go. No shit.

It's quite specific without details actually.
As can be interpretation like selling of JG so it could mean there's a buyout clause of say 88million euros (£100m) from a champions league qualified club something along those lines.

I imagine Douglas Luiz has a clause too when he signed a new contract regarded exit fees and money for more Brazil caps

He was  close to joining Arsenal not so long ago.

Tyrone Mings perhaps would be incentives regarding England Internationals

Did you know in France football league it's illegal to have release clauses in a players contract.

and in Spain it's illegal not to, but what does that have to do with Martinez?

I'm not sure how something can be specific without details or how you then think that can be explained with "but maybe he has a release clause".

Even if he does have a clause it's clearly going to be one that reflects his status which, when he signed his current deal, was that of a Copa America winner who had just had 18months of being one of the best keepers in the league. So, as has been the case all along, how many clubs need a goalkeeper and have the finances to pay £75m+ for one?

That's why 'right team, right money' isn't particularly insightful. It's true, and will be for almost every player in the world, but unless the person making that claim has specific knowledge of a team that are interested, have the money and are able to offer him everything he'd need to move then it is, as said, a vacuous statement. One that is made so they can come back to later and claim they were right with, whatever happens and have people like you laud them as ITK and hanging on their every word.

No its ok one can disagree but I'll give evidence to just help the doubting.

The Guardian Nick Ames:
"There was the sense at Arsenal that a deal could be possible when, after a 2-1 win over Villa on Wednesday night in which Douglas Luiz scored direct from a corner, Edu and Douglas Luiz held an upbeat conversation. The player made it clear to Villa that he wished to leave, ostensibly with an eye on regaining his Brazil place for the World Cup. Villa’s subsequent signing of Leander Dendoncker also raised hopes at the Emirates"

Gabby Agbonlahor Football Insider:
"Let’s be honest, Douglas Luiz wanted to leave Aston Villa because Arsenal bid and the club didn’t accept it, “Douglas Luiz was in a great position as his contract was up in the summer.
Sometimes, as a club, you have no choice. Even if you didn’t want to give the player a new contract you are in the position where you have to give him a new contract or he leaves on a free. Douglas Luiz would have been paid very, very good wages to commit to sign it.
Sometimes contracts can hide what is really going on. In the summer, Luiz might go but instead of £20million it might be £50m or £60m. The position he’s in, he’s laughing because he’s got his wages up high. I think it suits both the club and the player, to be honest.”

So there you have it.

I think we can see a similar scenario with Martinez getting a new improved contract.
