Honestly what a load of bollocks.

Martinez has done nothing wrong. The manager has given him time off and you’re making out like he’s out there teaching him a lesson. He’s not. He’s our number one keeper and Olsen is the back up. It’s that simple. Stop making it into something that it just isn’t.

I agree, but Footy does make a valid point about maybe shielding Emi from fan reaction. He's been all over global news for weeks for his shithousery, so maybe letting him keep his head down for a little extra time while the nonsense dies down is a good idea.

The very last player on the face of planet earth who needs sheltering from fan reaction is Emi Martinez.

Haha no kidding. That’s precisely what gives him energy. He loves us and couldn’t give a flying fuck about anything any other fan might or will say.

I dunno. He'll go too far one day. I can just imagine him doing a 'Braveheart' and getting arrested for indecent exposure.

Agree with TV and Risso.

What, in spite of my Braveheart exposed cock, balls & arse scenario?

Thinking about it, I'd actually love him to do that as long as it was directed at Booby Charlton or Trevor Brooking. Someone the establishment would be thoroughly outraged by.

Haha. I'm all for any player showing their cock to the establishment.

Not Ronaldo. I could do without that. He looks like a heavily throttled penis as it is.

Time to put this to bed.  You've been a bit of a knob Emi but now its time to get your gloves back on and do what you do best save for the Villa.

I may be wrong about this, but I'm sure I read somewhere that Cash and Martinez have not been used since the WC because they had not been around when Emery was instilling his footballing philosophy and culture with the rest of the squad: if so, that says it all about the guy - it's not about one's individual capabilities; it's as much about the team and the approach.

Tomorrow will be very much about celebrating Emi Martinez and hopefully a great win at the end of the night

Unai Emery: “I think he (Martínez) is going to be ready after his rest & after the emotion he had winning the World Cup. He is very important for us & we can be proud of him because he’s a World Cup winner & now his focus is 100% with us at Aston Villa..”

Emi played some matches at the Wolves in one of his loan periods from Arsenal. So definitely the match to Shithouse them in on his return.

I'm pleased Olsen put in a couple of decent displays, should take the nerves away a bit as and when we need to use him.  Hopefully that won't be tomorrow, but I've got no problem with him stepping back in for the cup game if Emery wants to deal with it that way.

Of course. We'll never see Olsen again, thankfully.

There was a French journalist at Emery's press conference today who was asking about Martinez and desperately digging for some signs of conflict.
