According to football insider we are looking at American keeper Joshua Tree as his potential replacement.

Are you sure? I've searched Wikipedia and I still haven't found what I'm looking for?
Whatever happens there is no Exit for Emi.

The "right offer" would probably be £60 million+. Who is going to pay that?

For those who say he's bound to leave because Grealish did, pretty much every non-Villa fan on Earth thought we robbed Man City blind with the fee we got. It's far from guaranteed that anyone gets close to our valuation for Martinez.

So we keep a player against his will to leave. Very rarely ends well.

Do you have an example of a Villa player where it's ended badly? I can think of loads where the fan response has been exactly like yours but every player I can think of in the last 20-30 years who wanted to go and then didn't, for whatever reason, either carried on playing and was professional enough to get on with it or was Alpay. Barry was professional, Benteke was professional, Luiz has bene professional, fuck even Grealish got on with things after looking like he was going twice before he actually left.

Players downing tools after failing to get a move is a bit of a myth really, for every Odemwingie or Ronaldo there are a hundred players who realise throwing a toddler like strop and/or refusing to play doesn't work out for anyone.

Martinez wants to be number 1 for club and country, if we don't let him leave that will still be his goal so he'll just get on with it. That's why him being on a long contract gives us a lot more say in matters. Given when he got a new deal I can understand he might have a clause but if he does it will reflect the fact that he was Arginetine number 1, had a copa america medal in his pocket and had established himself as one of the best keepers in the league, as CD says, it'll be at least £60m, probably plenty on top of that.

Fair. Though what goes on behind the scenes and the unsettling effect of other players knowing someone wanted off is a concern.

Anyhow let’s all just hope this is irrelevant. We want him here for years to come and, so long there is real investment in the squad now that we have the right guy in charge, and we continue our progression up the table and into Europe, perhaps he will be.

Doesn’t come off his line much though, I’d say he’s rooted to it.

According to Twitter (yes, I know) this is Emi's new tattoo. If I'm not mistaken that is a Claret and Blue background... I'm definitely reading something bad into that. He clearly wants to leave.

Anyone recognise whether this is him back in Brum? Doesn't look like your typical pad in Argentina.

According to FaceTwitters, we're selling him for £158 million plus 8 players in our direction. FACT!

Family still in Argentina so can’t see it myself. Surely not playing on Sunday if he’s not back tomorrow.

I didn’t believe that until I saw you’d put ‘Fact’ at the end, so that made it real 😂

Messi has been given until New Year's Day by PSG. He's due back in on the '2nd or 3rd'. Might play a football match on the 11th.
