What do we expect from Twiterrati? It's not possible for them to stomach the fact that he plays for us. They will conveniently ignore that we gave Emi the chance that made him become Argentinian number 1. At Arsenal he would have been loaned out to Watford  and WC would have just been a dream for him. I hope whatever turns up Emi will bear that in mind.

Even if his desire is CL football that CL team who ever it might be has to stump up the astronomical amount we’d want for him given he has a 4 year contract still to complete. It ain’t happening unless there’s a Grealishesque release clause.

Will we get a player in exchange who we really want? Either way, this is a no lose situation as long as we don’t end up with Olsen of course!

What an impressive man Neil Cutler is.

He could easily get a job as a pundit.
Talks very, very, well and is knowledgeable with it.

As it’s been prematurely squirreled away in other football and is excellent, re-recommending this in case anyone missed it:

So it feels interesting feeling so proud to have had this guy at the club, even though he’s left.  We have a lot to be grateful to him for.

Hopefully if he’s as good as he seems he’ll get his chance as England GK coach.

A number of really interesting parts of this to get some inside insight, into Smith & Gerard eras, Emi, etc

I can’t imagine anyone won’t enjoy 90mins of Big Cutts on his time at the Villa, plenty of fascinating stuff, on the claret & blue podcast

I listen to audio only on Spotify, but found there is a video version
https://youtu.be/kkIC2LcGgJc

Presume it’s the same as audio, there was also a short seperate quick fire questions recording, and even am possibly embarrassed to admit an interesting podcast where they reflect on how the interview went. Crucially he was very open to a part 2 especially if Emi went far, so imagine this may now happen.

Btw in the Sky interview with the strong side lighting, is he masking a massive shiner on the other side? Maybe the post match celebrations got a bit eventful? Seems in great form as ever, clearly a great pundit to be but much coaching career ahead first.

I forgot who it was that flagged up someone (?Newcastle?) would have been gutted they recruited GK coach just before he became available.

Weren’t we/Emery linked with some top keeper recently for a lot of money
I remember people saying he wouldn’t be coming at the amount to be a no 2

maybe it was just speculation because of the assumed history between Emi and our new manager
or I could easily be misremembering

Well, you'd hope we'd have a contingency plan in case of the very real possibility that Emi became highly sought after following the WC.

I'd rather keep him, because I think - much like Grealish before him - there's a very small number of players in the world who are better than he is (maybe none), and assuming he's happy then we'd be absolutely insane to let him go at any price*.

* assuming no release clause!

There probably is a clause as there probably is for Kamara and Luiz. We're shit (up to October 2022) so it's to be expected.

Which if his agent did his job properly, there likely is.

I must have seen that picture of Martinez with that awful trophy, and the look on the Qatari guy's face, about 20 times. Makes me laugh out loud every time. Even just thinking about it starts me off.

Making himself popular (or unpopular in France) by holding Mbappe as a baby during the parade.

Does seem an odd choice considering he did score a hat-trick.
