He strikes me as the type of person who is very appreciative of what he has. Personally and professionally. We plucked him for next to nothing from Arsenal and he will be starting in goal for Argentina at the next WC. We have embraced him and he’s embraced us. He loves it at Villa and we are now adding proper top quality players. He has no need to leave.

I think all of this is true but after Joe I don't trust any of them any more. Never will either. If I had to guess I'd say he would stay but more to do with clubs probably not willing to offer what we'd accept, unless there is something in his contract we don't know about.

How long has he got on his current deal? Needs extending. Douglas and Emi extended ASAP.

Emi will never be a home grown player who claims to have Villa running through his veins yet nearly left the club twice before he ultimately manufactured his move through his contacts with an opposing manager and via his agent. The issue isn’t loyalty as this is a profession. It’s stating one thing publicly and then doing something more deceitful behind the scenes. Both Grealish and Benteke did that. The snake was just that in how we kissed the badge claiming to want to stay and then fucked of a day or two later. And then there is that ****** Downing.

Fantastic news. Bit of dust in my eye when that popped up on Twitter just now. Clearly he wants to make sure he is still here for European cup number 2...

That could be the most important signing this season.

I genuinely can't think of any other mistakes that he has made.  He is a world class keeper and I'm really pleased we have him.

Nah, there's been a few. Lingard scored two at VP last season that went straight through him.

Arguably as important a signing as Coutinho, one of the best in the world in his position.
