What I like about the signing is I don't think a new goalkeeper was a priority this summer but when the opportunity arose we didn't hesitate to improve the first team.

Well i in agreement with the movement but lets not forget there was a complete transfer review and I for one think that GK area must have been identified  in improving.
Theres planning that goes on now.
Of course we looked at Ramsdale and Romero but I like the current ness of signing the FA Cup winning gk and someone who's been at a top side .

Because Reina left and essentially needed replacing.
I think maybe if Heaton was ready to go would may not have bought in but has to be said this Gk situation  has been a problem area as such with no long term solution.

Now Martinez has been signed as just that.
Neville and Carra both said GK needs to be secure for team to succeed.
So I think we did indeed want a new Gk

Yes and that he was actually going to be Arsenal number 1 . As good as Leno and decent with his feet which is something none of Heaton , Steer and Nyland have  to a degree of footballing abilities

That's a major plus too

If he has signed, i suspect the club are playing it clever and planning the announcement around the Grealish one. Makes social media sense to me.

My mate was telling me he was on loan at Wolves five or six years ago.

Perhaps we should sign your mate instead then.
that made me laugh

If he signs he will be brilliant until he makes his first mistake - and then most will want him dropped

Listening to the south american football expert on sky (can't think of his name), he said that Martinez would only sign for a club who would guarantee he will be 1st choice, as he wants to be the Argentinian national team goalkeeper.

If he were not 1st choice with us - why would he leave Arsenal? he may as well sit on their subs bench
Was it the most excellent South American Football expert that is Tim Vickery? Or do Sky have one of own that's escaped me. Vickery is independent and brodcasts across all the platforms sky BBC Talksport always knowing on all things South American have had the pleasure of speaking to him on the excellent 5 live world football phone in!
I quite enjoy to hear his thoughts and knowledge.

Has to be him !

Please be careful with such remarks. I am taking tea in the garden and almost made an awful mess with a scone that was heading in the direction of my mouth heavily laden with best of clotted Cornish and lashings of raspberry jam.

It’s possible we won’t announce the signing on the day of a match.  That used to be the rule anyway.
