We’re relying on DeGea to save the world? No wonder it’s fucked.

Why the rush to start threads?
It’ll be announced soon enough if it’s happening.

I was at that match when Big Ron came on and did his announcement re Deano although I can't remember off hand which match it was?

Palace at home. The next home game was Liverpool
Ah cheers LeeB, appreciate it. I'd have never have named Palace off the top of my head. 18 years ago and I couldn't remember the team or the score from that day. I need to dig out my old season video tapes or get on Youtube (if they're there) and give my memory a bit of a much needed boost/refresher. I thankfully still remember that Ronnie Rosenthal miss though!

Give your maths a refresher while you’re at it.
Haha! I know just realised whilst I was putting the tea on! 28 years! Christ no wonder I can't remember it. And in my defence there was a hazy decade included in that time period.

I’d been selling the fanzine for two years at the time. Fucking hell. I remember it selling well that day as we were staunchly anti-Ellis. I think the new issue for the Liverpool game soon after was the best sales day ever, and I missed it (and the game). Probably my only day on the sick. Typical.

Can I be the first to say 'We didn't want him anyway'

Or, 'Welcome Emiliano to the greatest club in the world.'

I'll delete one of these later.

Looks a quality signing and the right age too, another statement of intent if he is £20m.

Need to offload some of the other goalies though!

Would say:

Martinez
Heaton
Steer

Nyland and Kalinic to go (aim for £5m for the pair in total)

Well he’s definitely leaving.  I just hope it’s not to Brighton

I remember you saying that right at the last minute about Bryan.  Bloody hope you’re right though.  I think he is a game changer at the back.

Adam Crafton of the Athletic reporting we are still favourites as we are guaranteeing him to be number one, whereas Brighton are not looking to sell Ryan so cannot guarantee the same.

Makes a change to be buying players other people want, although more stressful 😂

If that's the case we might as well cash in on Heaton.

I agree, I’d cash in on all the keepers bar Jed Steer

This was when I started watching villa.  Previously I was a vanilla football fan with a, gulp, soft spot for Liverpool.  A mates big brother was a villa fan and he started driving us up from little ol’ Brackley in Northamptonshire.

I remember feeling part of something bigger when Saunders signed.  The fanzine was a big part of that and I regularly brought from the guy on the the approach to the Holte End, near the burger vans.

Hmmmm.... I don’t think the term “cash in” will apply its more a case of releasing and reducing liability.
