There is obviously a culture in the squad that means this is allowed to happen and not be challenged. Who knows how many players were too cowardly to oppose it and how many more were too cowardly to stare at their shoes silently in disgust. From the military to football squads, if you put a close knit group of hyped up young men in a small space there will be few who have the moral courage to stand up to it. Otherwise decent people end up going along with deplorable behaviour. My fear is that Emi is in that category. They probably all were. Patriotism is the last refuge of the scoundrel. I had a Welsh boss who viscerally hated the English, did some family research and found out he was descended a few generations ago from the English. He still thought it was ok to call us mongrels, even though he was self identified as an English/Welsh mixed heritage person, which is actually fine but by his definition a mongrel. I love a bit of national pride and I fucking hate nationalism. Edited for crap spelling.
