Forgive me, as I'm not sure if we've covered this. But who exactly would you replace him with, and at what cost?

Not sure that the most in-form striker in the Premier League really needs any excuses.

Whether you think it or not, by this post, you are exhibiting precisely what it is to be a troll. When so many point out the basic flaws in your argument and you still steadfastly maintain your stance it might be you who is wrong.

We’ve been over this. 21 year old German centre forward called Johann Schmidt or something along those lines. 6ft5, blonde hair in a 80s perm. Bangs in goals for fun, and a clinical penalty taker. Never injured, and has dreamt of playing for the Villa ever since he saw Thomas Hitzlsperger banging in long range shots for fun - they’re his speciality. Team player, in his spare time he listens to 3hr talks about football tactics.

Come on, Villa scouts, this is amateur stuff. Just go find a player like that and we’re sorted.

Found this on X

Only 4 strikers have scored more than him in the Prem and only 3 have scored more from open play

Haaland 20 (2 PKs) (Chances missed 6)
Igor Thiago 16 (5 PKs) (Chances missed 12)
Semenyo 11 (1 PK) (Chances missed 6)
DCL 9 (2 PKs) (Chances missed 10)

For context, Watkins this time last year had 10 goals & he had missed 18 Chances, currently he’s tracking at 8 goals and 13 Chances missed.

Last season the total was 84 or 85 attempts on goal, 16 goals. Just to add, I imagine his number of assists was a personal record as he certainly added them to his game.

Just watching a video compilation of his goals for us. Not even his assists, just his goals.

It's one long video.

Great bloke, and great servant to Aston Villa.

Somebody on the Guardian pod the other day was talking about a study that’s been conducted about strikers in the modern era, and it concluded that they have become less clinical because of all the other things they have to do apart from putting the ball into the net. Stuff like the amount of ultimately pointless sprints, channel runs, pressing etc mean that they are more fatigued than they ever have been, and this has a negative effect on chance conversion. Apparently they didn’t ask smirker for his input on modern centre-forward play, as they already had somebody who could count and endlessly repeat themselves.

I think we can all agree that there are dozens of forwards who'd have a better goals and assists record than Watkins, Perce.

That's why there are so many ahead of him in our modern history and in the PL since Watkins joined us.

Oh, and, erm 😂😎

Sam Allardyce is statistically the greatest England manager of all time.

It doesn't matter about context or circumstance. He's definitely the greatest.

Which is quite apparent when you see Haaland’s stats, who might only touch the ball 8 times in a match.
