And that is why he starts rather than Malen.

He didn't start though. If anything it shows he should be playing from the bench.

Not really, it showed why the other stuff good forwards do is important to making the team work.

He did have a good all round performance and looked back to his best today, but that's because he was taking people on, holding it up well and actually playing well. Don't pretend he plays like that every time he starts, because he hasn't for a long time.

Outstanding, he got a similar header to that one a couple of seasons ago. Bournemouth?

Brighton? Been poor since for sure. I'm a lot more worried about Malen

I’m not worried about Malen. He’s very useful in the right role, he’s just not an all round forward in the same way Ollie is. His form hasn’t been great this year, but he’s still a top forward - as he showed tonight and at Brighton.

Malen is great to have but he's not a starting lone striker for us. Maybe he will get there but his last 2 starts show he's not there yet, or even particularly close to it.

Malen made 4 passes in an hour, 2 were to Villa players. 6 total touches of the ball.

Absolutely.  A direct, pacey outlet who can get a shot away in games we're trying to close out, or one of a front two in games where we'd expect to be all over the opposition for most of the game.

One great cameo does not cancel 20 bad games. Give him credit for today by all means but no need to rewrite history.

Likewise Malen can have two starts, play shit and then that's proof Watkins should start?

The inconsistency here is mental.

Brilliant when he came on and that header was immense. Well done Ollie.
